Do a few missions for the Brotherhood of Steel and the main dude will give you a good one. I also found some laser crank rifles from raiders in an early game mission, I think.

Is that the scavenging table thing? I built one and put a settler to work on it, absolutely no idea whatsoever what it's accomplishing.

I'm hoping the settlement constructed merchants will be useful but have yet to get the level to unlock the required perks.

Also, on Idiot Savant - how long does your int need to be for it to be really useful? Is 4 int(for the hacking perks) low enough?

Do the story quests and you'll get a nice pew pew laser very early on that'll tide you over until you get further into the game.

Was curious, since people have probably finished the game already, are there ending slides like in traditional fallouts/new vegas?

I haven't played the game myself, but I've seen some spoilers. From what I've heard, the answer is no. It's like Fallout 3 - two endings that don't say anything about any of the side quests or side characters.

Have you actually tried this out for your self, or just read it somewhere else? I've seen it come up a couple of times and some people have debunked it by emptying their stockpile, putting in a couple of things that break down into just more than it takes to craft a simple thing, crafting that thing and the excess was there in their stockpile.
Not saying that the system isn't bug free, but check it out before switching to manually breaking down every little bit of junk.

Reddit says that those parts go into limbo and are re-added to your stockpile once you manually add a material of the same type to your stockpile. Or something. They're not gone.

However, it is still loving dumb and all those parts should have automatically broken down into their materials. One might say it is simply Bestheda.

How do you scrap stuff in your inventory, I needed leather and just ended up having to drop some armors (that didn't list on the armor workbench) and scrap them from workshop view.

So I like all the crafting and town building stuff but it really bugs me how I can't make any sort of house that isn't "rusty shack full of holes". I'm not asking for anything fancy but a roof that actually functions as a goddamn roof and keeps the rain off seems like something I should be able to build.

Carrying capacity is fine (10 STR) I just mean I want to scrap inventory items from the pip boy menu instead of having to drop them on the floor and open the workspace menu.

I have to be missing something here because it's like the one unstreamlined menu thing in the game so far.

They're not very interesting. Mostly how-tos and DX11 postprocessing mods.

Also, you can't ESP patch game settings yet, so turning enemy damage up while removing their bullet sponginess is not going to be a thing until someone figures out how to get that working :holy:

I'm barely 2 hours in and know nothing, so could someone tell me how much Southie there is in the game? I can pretty clearly see the seaport and the channel and pleasure bay/castle island so I'm really hoping I can make my RL apartment my main settlement. If there are dead yuppies and raiders in white track suits selling future oxycontin they really did their location work

Ammo where? Currently swimming in .38 rounds but very little else.
Any way to get rid of radiation other than radaway?

1. I built my own container next to the workshop. Junk goes in workshop, loot/other poo poo goes in containers I built myself. Basically anywhere, I guess.
2. Kill baddies, loot gunes, open containers, get lucky. Points of interests usually have a safe with poo poo in them. USAF satellite station Olivia just east of Sanctuary has stuff.

4. Do your own thing, man. Despite your character really caring for your virtual babby, there's no rush.

Just shove it all in one of the workshops in Sanctuary.

Traders sell various calibers, better enemies have it on them.

Nope.

If you listen to the military distress signal (if you haven't found it just walk south from Sanctuary until you do) you'll get a quest. Following that quest will result in you getting a nice laser rifle and a good amount of ammo for it.

I have put 4 in every stat, because seems the minimal to get some nice perks withouth seriusly invested in them. My dump stat is luck*, I have no interest in critical hits and Luck 1 already provide what I want. Then I have a 6 in Perception and Charisma. Charisma because seems will unlock dialog options and I don't want to lose these, and perception because seems helps with combat and important stuff, but I could be wrong here.

*also in the game

I was tempted to make a gimmicky build, based on strenght, but seems strenght is only really good if you want to use mele weapons, and I don't want to limit myself. Also I think theres a lot of enemies shotting bullets at me, and I don't want battles to start with me eating many bullets, specially from a enemy on the 2th level of a building.

A gimmicky pure science/int was also in the cards, but in the end the finnalization of my build will be after a few hours playing, seeing what I like the most.
