taser rates posted:I put Apocrypha and UBW about even as far as adaptation quality. Apocrypha was weighed down by crappy source material but the animation team did a lot to elevate it, whereas UBW's excellent first season was followed up by a heavily flawed second season.

I absolutely hated f/apo. It takes a lot to be a more milquetoast protag than Shirou, but Sieg did it despite having a far more interesting origin. Didnt do enough with his not really being human thing.

Honestly, so long as you're staying out of the actual "it's there for porn and nothing else" section of VNs, a lot of them actually do have fairly well-developed protagonists. Consequences of stories that take tens of hours to complete. Shirou's a particularly good example, but he's hardly the only one.

Sieg blows, but by and large I liked the whole Apo servant cast. The Masters were more hit and miss but the brother and sister, Shishigou, and tsundere mustache man and his sassy homunculus assistant were all pretty fun in their own ways. Also, goddamn these new CEs
