I like Volumes but I don't really understand their two vocalists. They both sound so similar that there are no dynamics in lots of their songs.

I dunno, the two vocalist thing just adds a live dynamic. While one guy is screaming, the other guy officially becomes the "Hype man/get the crowd pumped" guy.

I actually thought the last album was forgettable, but this new song (other than the nu-metally talking/whining part) really mixed things up and I keep feeling compelled to listen to it. I hope they have more of that regular singing, because I thought it was really good and it was out of place in a good way--made it seem kind of like the singer was insane or something. I SHALL LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

As I listened to the song I was like "ok this is kinda whatever" and then "ew wtf are those whiny vocals (during the 'lips turn blue' line) that's really bad" and then "holy poo poo did they really implement clean vocals?? that's ga-- actually not bad" In fact, I think that the clean chorus is my favorite part of the song.

New shadows fall record is floating around out there now and it's...uhh....alright I guess? I mean it's not offensive and has some good songs but there's a definite thing going on IMO. Retribution (their last album in 09) was a little better IMO.

So I'm looking for some new music to work out to, I was wondering if you guys could throw me some recommendations for new bands to listen to? At the moment at the gym I'm listening to Lamb of God's new album and there's a few decent songs on it and I find that kind of groovy metal some of the easiest to work out to. Some of it can be too distracting for me though too. Stoner metal is too drat slow, etc. Pandora recommends Slipknot. I do not listen to Slipknkot. Devildriver appears looks like they have influences from bands like Opeth and In Flames, so I might like them. What is a good Chimaira song? Other than that, at the moment on my phone I have In Flames, Lamb of God, Necrophagist, Meshuggah, Trivium, Insomnium, and Amon Amarth. I used to listen to Pantera when working out but Lamb of God is almost like 2 dimebag darrells and a better vocalist with some of their stuff. Anyway, what do you guys think? Edit- Well, gently caress. Looks like this might be in the wrong thread. I'd say it should go in the general metal thread but I didn't realize we have to have 2 damned metal threads. My bad. Any standard simple chugga chugga stuff works great for workouts. Hatebreed, Terror, Lionheart, and The Ghost Inside are my go to's. They're all positive lyrics and chugging guitars that really amp you up.

Their First album is even better. There's just something so amazing about working out and having a guy scream in your ear "NO APOLOGIES NO REGRETS!" It physically gives me chills when I'm on the treadmill and automaticalyl makes me run faster.

Resist the Thought just came out with a new album this past Friday. I've listened to it a few times but still not sure how I feel about it. The music sounds good, but it's missing some awesome breakdowns that they had in their first album. Their song "Reflections" from their first album, for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7PqMGENI4U That breakdown at 1:40 is delicious

I can't wait to blast it. But it's an EP, not an album? I'm so loving sick of that poo poo. Like 50% of all the 'core releases nowadays are EP's and then two years later the band will come out with a full-length and it has all the songs from the EP. currently blasting the song and HOLY poo poo edit: the EP is 2 songs... krustster fucked around with this message at 00:00 on May 23, 2012 |

I really enjoyed the new Architects album. Not too keen on that overproduced clean singing though. I really like the end of the last song, but the first 3 minutes of it sound like Dawson Creek

man Obey the Brave owns. Live and Learn goes hard. I sort of get the Ghost Inside vibe from it but the vocals are much more aggressive and aaaaaauuhghgn dudes this is so heavy. Why can't it be a full album, gently caress an EP (I am buying it anyway)

It's extra cool for me, because I loved the gently caress out of Despised Icon, and I really thought the second pig squeal guy was the weak point. Obey The Brave is like a trimmed down more brutal version of DI.

The Charm, The Fury just released their first EP this week and it's worth listening to if you have a soft spot for the rockin' side of metalcore. (Think Underoath, the Bled, ETID, etc) I'm not their ambassador to the USA or anything, I just think they're fairly interesting and extremely catchy.
