HM: Dragon Lee vs. Volador Jr., CMLL Puebla (8/5) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9fWzWWy0_o&t=7874s HM: Rush vs. Caristico, CMLL Puebla (8/12) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-WRRBoNalI&t=6170s Both of these are pretty fun matches, but brought down by something from what I was hoping they would be. For Lee/Volador, it's a couple of really unfortunate botches. For Rush/Caristico, it's the story of the match. While the latter pays off in the end, it goes through some steps to get there I wasn't super wild about. Still, both are really fun and easily worth your time.

It's 7 nominations to get an HM, but 4 MOTY votes also classify for the HM list. There needs to be some kind of hurdle to clear, especially as the wrestling just seems to be continually getting better and better around the world now. Even with the 7 nomination obstacle you can see the HM list is pretty goddamn stacked and it is only August.

HM: Kylie Rae vs. Tessa Blanchard, Zelo Pro Milwaukee Meltdown (1/4) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-oJnJkXj-Q This is the best women's match I've seen so far this year in a North American-based promotion. That includes TakeOvers (I haven't seen Io-LeRae yet) and AEW. It's a great best of three falls match, with Tessa just playing a great cocky heel and Kylie a great babyface. The ring work is really good and the story of the match is told perfectly. It was almost a MOTYC for me, but my cutoff this year for that is ****1/2.

HM 27th July Pro Wrestling NOAH Global Junior League Night 10 GHC Heavyweight Championship Kaito Kiyomiya vs Katsuhiko Nakajima Right from the word go you've got the veteran Nakajima acting a bit dismissive of Kiyomiya. it escalates and along the way you've got suplexes and kicks and chops and a couple Emerald Frosion. Kaito gives as good as he gets and it's a lot of fun. Dude is only 23 but it seems like this title run might be coming together after a slow start. I hope so anyway.

MOTYC: Hazuki vs Arisa Hoshiki, Stardom World Big Summer In Tokyo, 24th July This could possibly be my match of the year and is right up there on my rewatch list with Meiko Satomura-Sareee. It was everything I like in a pro wrestling match: fast-paced, compelling, great story, went no longer than it needed to with a clean finish. Got lost in the G1 shuffle but everyone should go out their way to watch it if they can: its a great great match. Also would like to give a HM to Bea Priestley-Momo Watanabe from the same show: overshadowed by the match before but they got the crowd into it by the end and it was a very fun match.
