Also, with Frontier's ability to, well, you know, actually get poo poo done, I would say more like Elite 5 or 6 (and that is factoring a plethora of paid DLC production).

It looks like that missile turret can rotate, but it has to rotate back to a certain position to be reloaded. Are there real-life missile turrets with auto-reloaders? How do they load? Because the only other thing I can think of is a tank and there the whole cabin or whatever its called rotates with the barrel I think so it can be loaded regardless of where its pointed.

To be quite honest, you do not need to have a rotating turret at all. The only reason that missiles are forward facing at all is because of gravity and velocity. There is no need for that consideration in space with zero-g. The could all be stacked and then once a bay door opens they can launch 1 or all of them on board at once. There is little to no need for fairings or wings on them so it could fit even more.

Mirificus posted:Mark 26 Guided Missile Launching System Also, on my Dad's ship, the USS Long Beach, they had a Talos launcher somewhat similar to that one, but the missiles loaded from a sloped glacis behind the dual articulated launcher (as seen here). I was young, and there was a Tiger Cruise. They had to work out the launcher frequently to offset corrosion issues so I would just stand there and watch. It was pretty awesome. In the pic I linked, you can see where they load from. Samizdata fucked around with this message at 06:33 on Mar 7, 2017 |

Notably the Navy phased out the rail system in favor of a vertical launch system (VLS). There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for that convoluted launching system, especially when at the ranges capital ship combat was supposedly going to happen you would arguably have enough time to open up a cargo hatch and toss the stupid things out. The only thing Star Citizen "simulates" about space is how expensive it is.
