I went to grad school with a south african monarchist. I prefer subtitles because I sometimes find it hard to hear and understand what characters are saying, especially if there's a lot going on at the same time, or if several characters are talking at once. People with eyesight problems, or people who have dyslexia, or some other issue with reading and looking at what's happening (like this columnist clearly does) are obviously going to prefer dubs.
