They can't even blame this on a rogue social media manager. The tone-deafness goes right to the top: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisstokelwalker/raspberry-pi-hired-ex-cop-mastodon-controversy quote:Liz Upton, Raspberry Pi’s cofounder and chief marketing officer, told BuzzFeed she believes that much of the issue stems not from the hiring of the former police officer who admitted to using Raspberry Pis for covert surveillance, but instead from a picture the account posted to Mastodon a day earlier showing pigs in blankets. “We didn’t put a content warning on it, because we don’t put a content warning on meat,” Upton said. “There were quite a few people who tried to start dogpiling on that.” 1. This isn't organic and spontaneous, it's an organized conspiracy. 2. Frumious claims of death threats. 3. People really don't care about this all that much. Yep, great response.

Luckily OrangePi's have gotten as good or better than the RasPi's. And they aren't going for ~$100 for a loving Zero W 2 (MSRP $18) hoarded by Chinese or American resellers. They just take a month to get to you because AliEx and customs.

"Later in the interview, Upton said that the social media manager had possibly received death threats around the time Spencer replied to her post and could have been shaken up. " Ah yes, the ol' 'I got sent death threats no I cant show you them' schtick. I see it on tumblr all the time when people are racist and get upset at Black people and PoC politely telling them how they were being racist.
