I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

The Pathfinder mod that went up recently also adds some neat capes. There are two versions--one adds the Advent Pathfinder enemy type, the other just adds their clothes.

According to Mark Nauta on reddit, they know what the issue was: a bug with the Viper bind.

Ironically enough, it was fixed in the latest dev builds but for streaming, they prefer using older ones they know are relatively stable. :v:

So, I'm trying out that Infiltrator class that uses the Primary Pistols mod.

And oh my god, the class is amazing immediately. Sure, the damage range on the basic ballistic pistol is 1-4... but the pistol gives +3 mobility, and they have innate +3 damage to flanking pistol shots. The Primary Pistol has a 6-shot clip (appropriate, considering the ballistic pistol is a revolver), which while seeming fair for a 1-4 damage range, that mobility plus Hunter's Instinct combo makes it pretty hilarious. Then you add in another innate perk of the class... "Raise the Stakes". Free immediate automatic reload every time the Infiltrator gets a kill. Which basically means the Infiltrator, provided it gets a kill at least once every six shots, will never need to reload manually.

They can take the stealth perks (stuff like Phantom, Shadowstep, Shadowstrike), and the standard sword or pistol perks, along with stuff like Close Combat Specialist (the free reaction shot against stuff that moves within 4 tiles), Hail of Bullets, and the option to parry melee attacks like a muton.

Real classes love to reload in a battle. There's nothing better than slamming a long silver bullet in to a well greased chamber.

Is this combined with a mod that lets you put mods on pistols?

Finishing up an everything-enabled full game + spark + bosses run. Man, you get overpowered as hell later in the game. I might even build a spark once I've bought all of their upgrades.

I played xcom 1 on classic difficulty but this game seemed way harder so I stuck to one level up from the lowest (I think I am on normal, and veteran was too much?) Is veteran a lot harder? is it fun? I never savescum missions. Is savescumming required if you're not a tactical god/sperglord?

XCOM 1 is, in my opinion, easier than 2 because of a lack of timers. You can conga line your entire squad in-between fights overwatching everyone and never worry about making dashing moves to an objective (with the exception of bomb disposals and Thin Men drops). XCOM 1 with Enemy Within also has a ton of ways of making your units OP as hell in other ways from 2, like having snipers with Mimetic Skin go concealment scouting almost at will and have big beefy mech units that level.

It plays differently from 2 in that you can afford to be way more defensive. You do not need to be a tactical god or massive sperg to beat the game in a high difficulty without savescumming and my dumb rear end is proof. Just take it slower than 2. You won't be a destructive god of war like 2 lets you be, though.

As for fun... I played Enemy Unknown, Within, and 2, and I have to say that out of all of them, I prefer 2 the most because of the visceral thrill of getting so OP I'm wiping out massive numbers of aliens in one turn late-game, and the class designs are also more fun, IMO. However, I'd recommend anyone wanting to get into XCOM by Firaxis to start out with EU and EW before moving on to 2.

Anyone know if there's a way to autocomplete a mission through the console or .ini? I'm on an ironman run without a save backup from a long time ago, and one of the maps packs I'm using glitched up. Basically I'm on an alien facility mission where the objective is in the center of the map in an unreachable grey void and I can't even reach it with teleport commands.

Thanks for your reply but you misunderstood: I have played and finished 1/2 with the DLC. I'm saying "I played 1 at the level 'classic' but found 2 harder when I first started it and have carried on playing it (#2) at normal difficulty, is it worth playing on veteran, is it fun to play on veteran"

I finished 1 on classic ironman like 2-3 times and am finishing 2 on normal for the second time.

It forced everything to load at once instead of slowly. So it can crash lower end systems which is why it isn't default behavior iirc.

Just blow up the house and open up LOS. Now if it's in a canyon then you are hosed.

I got the "Who Needs Tygan?" achievement today which is beating the final mission with just conventional gear (only weapons and armor you get at the start, plus a few other things that you can't downgrade like plasma and medkits. You can still add a mod to your weapon but no special ammo, etc.)

So into the final room went the Commander and six PsiOps. oh and two Archons and two Andromedons and two Gatekeepers and four zombies. Dealing with the rear end in a top hat Avatar teleporting to the far side of the room is a challenge because I'm used to just carrying blaster launchers to deal with that. 'sfun though.

Oh whoops! Yeah, XCOM 2 is fun and worth playing on Veteran/Commander. Still no need to play "sperg", you can do it without savescumming.

Does Blademaster affect the Rage Suit melee?

Also, I edited the .ini line to allow SPARK PCS slots, but it doesn't seem to work even with the -review argument? I don't mind too much bc I've already got a scope on, but it'd be nice.

Gonna finish off this Ironman Vet victory lap, then drop in some more mods and kick it up to Commander. I held off playing this for months bc I knew how good it'd be, and now I can't wait for WotC :c

XCOMish tactical mechanics but not really my cup of tea. Ends up playing more like a conventional single player campaign game, with most units not being disposable. It's reasonable but not really what I'm into because it's game over if you lose a unit half the time, rather than a setback you can work around.

Yeah I feel like I'm in a weird place here. A couple places I went suggested Darkest Dungeon for more of the customizable characters and :xcom: ironman feel, but Hard West for the tactical aspect.

If you haven't played it already, grab Xenonauts. Far, far more like the old 90's X-COM than the 2010's XCOM (which is what it set out to be, a modernizing of X-COM) but it does its job very well.
