From here: http://imgur.com/a/MzmID Driving to work is a lot less stressful now that I've got that bracket replaced. Had to overnight it from Tokyo I get a new hub today, I hate doing the hubs on this car. The shop in question said 'I watched him do this job and it was all with hand tools' and 'sometimes you will make marks on the face of the hub'. Sure, buddy, all hand tools and not about 15 brrrraapps to get that top bolt in without even starting the threads. If that top bolt had let go in a panic brake situation I'd have sued the shop into oblivion. All I want is to have the money I spent replacing the parts they hosed up refunded and train the monkey that did this job better. BloodBag fucked around with this message at 10:58 on Dec 2, 2016 |

I've definitely had a bolt come out of a caliper bracket looking like that and gently caress the threads to hell and back, because I like in the Great Salt North. But gently caress, at least chase the threads and put a new bolt in. Though once I start figuring in labor, I just buy a whole new caliper/bracket assembly and call it a day. No excuse to reinstall parts like that, and that hub is ruined. An installation tool for lug studs is like $20, no excuse to just rip several in with the nuts like that.

Our gov department cant afford to have poo poo lying around for single use- our entire budget for the year for managing Environment, Water and Natural Resources for an entire state is $120M... Theres companies that make apps for iphones with bigger budgets.

I had that assembly apart not two days before and finger-tightened the caliper bolts until the lockwashers touched and then tightened it all up with a 17mm box end wrench. I suspect they used an impact gun with a wobble joint to clear the strut mount bolt thats right there, blocking it. It's the only way I can think they boogered the threads that badly. But the guy saying they only used hand tools to put it together is a load of poo poo. I can put money on those galled rings on the hub face are from the rattle gun socket banging straight against it.

I was thinking, like a typical American, the there were lovely flat highways where you wanted to go. That's not even always true here. wallaka posted:The gently caress is EMPTY PIPE for? Serious answer, it's just an unused hardline in the little vacuum manifold that sits on top of the solenoid rack. Possibly an unimplemented feature, or simply not require/available on USDM models. the spyder posted:Automatic transmission additional vacuum reservoir. Or that. I thought it might be for something on an auto-equipped car. There's unused plugs all over my '79's engine bay for the automatic version, so they could use just one engine harness. One the one hand, easy, reduces parts count; on the other, way too much "where does this plug go? Did I forget to connect something?"

I still can't get over that FD diagram every time I see it. You could be forgiven for believing that the car runs on vacuum, and all of the combustion stuff is just there as a big fancy vacuum pump.

Is it bad that I have the diagram 90% memorized? Ugh. Thankfully I'm doing more single-turbo swaps now that the ECU/Turbo tech finally caught up to the consumer-level. Companies like Adaptronic, Injector Dynamics, CJ Motorsports, and BorgWarner really changed the possibilities for these cars.

E85 or anything above VP 110 leaded would all probably be acceptable. We ran a time attack car on Q16 for awhile because the fuel system wouldn't support the flow we needed for e85 (about 30% more). Expensive, but made a shitload of power. https://vpracingfuels.com/master-fuel-table/ jamal fucked around with this message at 20:52 on Dec 9, 2016 |
