yeah their estimate put his birthday around halloween, so since he's a black cat that's canon. but im pretty sure he was quite a bit younger than 2.5 years because he wasn't done growing. i think he was probably closer to 1.5 years old or younger. once they have all their adult teeth and are roughly minimum adult sized its hard to tell until some of the obvious signs of oldcat show up

We don't have that problem with Alby because we know when he was born down to the week because he was a barn cat. Starry though we got from the shelter as a stray and they guessed she was 2. I think they're right because she hasn't gotten any bigger.
