I'd argue that there has been a smoldering low scale revolution going on for the last 70 years, just look at the history of communists in Kerala or the Naxalites in Andhra Pradesh. The Indian state is ridiculously weak: there are 9999 cross cutting ethnic, racial, religious, and caste interests effectively preventing any sort of unified front leftist or otherwise.

The Naxalites are probably the longest surviving communist guerrilla group out there.

the bjp has no presence in kerala. in the last election they reached a high of like 12% of the vote. kerala is fought between alliances of the center left and far left. congress crushed in kerala and their allies held it together so they'll control the government. congress' new seats came entirely at the expense of cpi(m)

the alliances are weird though! india's revolutionary socialist party is allied with congress against the cpi(m) and wiki says they're explicitly ML

Yeah it should probably be noted that there have been a lot of local movements i.e. Baba Bujha Singh in Punjab and George Reddy in Hyderabad. In the end both got killed by right winged shitheads though.

The national-level results look like poo poo because

A. the CPI doesn't have a strong national presence
B. people allegedly vote differently at the national level than they would at the state level
C. India uses first-past-the-post

So it might have looked like Kerala was "lost" to the BJP in these recent elections, but it doesn't reflect on their local government

or at least that's what I got from the latest Moderate Rebels, when they interviewed Indian journalist Prabir Purkayastha

There's also the part you didn't mention here that the Congress Party put their president (a Ghandhi) in Kerala to campaign (on top of his home seat). You know, the only part of India where the BJP literally has no boots on the ground, to combat the BJP.

no they didn't have elections last year. in the federals in 2015, ontario (most populous province and home to trudeau) is always a battleground between the liberals and conservatives with massive sweeping changes many elections. conservatives controlled many of the ridings before 2015 and liberals cleaned up. they've been decreasing in popularity ever since and if my man singh can't get it done canada's gonna have another conservative government by october
