Yeah, having zero stakes in a series where the main character routinely bets everything on any battle he can is a bit of a warning flag for Ryou's odds here. If he ends up being a sacrifice to make Central seem like a threat, I hope it's just so they can set up an Alice grudge match.

I think the Central guy's dish looks better overall. Kurokiba's looks really tasty, but Central guy's dish has more of a "this dish would cost more money" air to it, and the cost of food is basically indicative of its quality. (I actually unironically think the Central guy's dish looks better; I feel a lot more curiosity about what it would taste like. Kurokiba's dish looks like something I'd pay 8 dollars for at a random cafe, even if it still tastes good.)

Several possibilities came to mind: 1) The use of bacon in Central dude's dish may have masked the salmon's unique flavor slightly. 2) Or maybe Kurokiba's dish, being buffed full of rice, may have diluted the salmonness somewhat. 3) Even though it wasn't the theme, the goal of the shokugeki was to preserve the cutting edge cooking R.S. and Central dude did a way better job of exemplifying that.

The problem is that we've already reached the maximum amount of interesting characters and didn't blow them off before adding additional, intentionally unlikeable characters like Edgy Heat Guy, Cooking Ojou Girl, etc. Making Momo a confection specialist was a horrible idea too, I think. Its just way too different of a field for Soma to reasonably compete against her.

Man, they could've done something cool with Momo. But no, they had to go with the most stereotypical baloney for the childish-looking character.
