A nice pack at a great price. Got it last year and used a few times and taking it to the Grand Canyon this month for a backpacking trip.

Just make sure you don't treat it like it's heavier counterparts. It has a "frame" but it's far from an Osprey Aether. I don't really like taking it above 30lbs total pack weight but that can be subjective.

Yeah, I don't plan on pushing the weight on this pack. It's my first backpacking backpack at all so this is all somewhat new to me, but for $120, I couldn't pass it up. It will probably just get used for single overnights on this trip with stops back at our car the next day so outside of the tent for my wife and I and our sleeping bags/pads, we won't be hauling a whole lot.

weight is exactly 1lb with guylines. I stake down three corners of the tarp and tie the fourth to my bike handlebars to make a really snug shelter for the bivy, but I have a ton of other options for setup as well. Taking this setup on a 4 night bikepacking trip in Tennessee next month as a shakedown for the Tour Divide in June (2700 miles from Banff to Mexico down the Rockies)

Can't you get a wagon and/or hatchback version of the legacy that's a little closer to the wrx?

Subaru only makes two turbos now, the WRX and the Ascent, and no WRX wagon/hatch. I'm particularly miffed about no WRX hatch, because they make an Impreza hatch, and it's still basically the same. The Ascent is way too big/expensive for what I want. I'm leaning towards CVT since I live around LA, which means I can get a pretty recent Forester, and it's v tempting.

Also they only discontinued the Forrester XT in like the past year so you could get one with sub 10,000 miles I bet.

Same, but opposite, I use a shitload of gochujang and love it. It's spicy and not-quite-bitter.

It's the 157. It has the same barrel case shape as the 144, but uses the Lemania 5100 movement instead of the ubiquitous 7750. It's been out of production for some years but still obtainable on ebay/chrono24/forums, and incidentally the only 5100-based Sinn chrono that will fit comfortably under a dress shirt cuff and doesn't cost silly money.

I got an Ascent back in November and it's ok. It gets terrible mileage (to be expected) but where the size really shows is in parking the thing. I've never had any trouble parking larger vehicles and used to drive my friend's Yukon pretty often with no issues, but the Ascent is just awkward to get into parking spots. I frequently need to creep in then back out and recenter and it's really obnoxious. I really wish they still made a WRX hatch cuz I would have totally gone that route. My wife has an '18 Forester and the thing is absolutely gutless so that was out of the question for me. If they still made a WRX wagon I'd have 100% jumped on that.

I kind of wish I'd gone with a Pilot or CX9 instead of the Ascent, but the Pilot was too expensive and the CX9 wasn't available with the options I wanted.

Aw that's a shame. I was looking at getting one a couple years ago when it looked like I was going to need a new car. The Ascent seemed to be just the right height to easily get my wheelchair-bound mom in & out of.

It's a Wacom Cintiq 21UX that I've been using for the last several years. It's kind of old & my refurbished iMac's USB's are kind of finicky (nothing more fun than having your Cintiq stop syncing in the middle of your work) but it's been a significant step up from my old Cintiq 12WX & my even older Intuos 3 tablet. Pretty sure the Ascent is brand new for the 2019 model year, maybe you were looking at something else? Anyway, it sits kind of high and I doubt it would be an easy transition from wheelchair to passenger seat. My great dane sometimes refuses to jump in or out of it if that's any kind of useful reference.

I was at an auto show that had the Ascent on display. I measured the seat height and it seemed pretty darn good in terms of being equal to the height of a wheelchair.

Since my mom passed away last year I don't need to worry about wheelchair issues anymore.
