I tried the new KFC Waffle Down, two pieces of boneless fried chicken with a waffle and syrup in the middle. What I got: After the manager apologized and made a new order, I can say that it was delicious. The previous Double Down had bacon and cheese in the middle and tasted mostly like salt. This time around with a more classic combination, the sweet syrup works really well with the fried chicken. The fluffy waffle (it came prewrapped, this is still fast food) with a bit of crispness worked well texturally against the more substantial chicken. All in all a great sandwich but not worth C$9, especially when I can get the same thing at the Dirty Bird just a few minutes' walk further.

As someone who deep fries roughly 20 lbs of boneless chicken per hour on any given Saturday, I can't fathom how they got the breading that brown with the chicken absolutely raw on the inside, especially at that thickness (or thinness, rather). My best guess is they haven't filtered/changed the fryer oil since Obama was still in office. Really old/heavily abused oil makes chicken super dark, super quick. The next assumption then is that their cook was just guesstimating/eyeballing poo poo and not using a timer. gently caress that KFC. Also our place would have not only made you a new order, but comped it. I'm sorry you had to pay $9 for that heresy against my sainted order of fry cooks, but I thank you for your service to the thread.

I'd guess maybe some/most fast food chicken comes pre-breaded and is supposed to be mostly pre-cooked and is just frozen, like the chicken goujons you buy in the frozen food section. If you cut one of those open while frozen, they should be cooked through, but years ago I bit into one that hadn't been fully cooked inside. The outside still had all the tasty looking breading, but it was pink and nasty inside. It was this brand and they looked exactly the same cooked or straight out of the bag frozen. I sent them a picture of the raw one and they sent a letter back full of typos saying they had checked the batch and it was all fine and it wasn't possible for there to have been any raw chicken

When I was 7 or 8 I got a raw mcnugget that looked just like that inside from mcdonalds that looked fully cooked from the outside. I don't really understand how it happened since I'm like 99.99% sure they don't cook their nuggets from raw at mcdonalds of all places, but it was gross as hell and I got a free happy meal. For years after that I always did a test bite before starting to chew it.

They were already breaded, but still needed cooking.

I actually hand-bread raw, not-frozen breasts right before dropping em. A poorly par-cooked frozen batch from Sysco would explain things. You get a pass, anonymous Canadian KFC fry cook. this time
