It might be nice to see Earth Space Dock v1 again. On the other hand, there's that impressively-bad skill system the game shipped with.

And you just know they'll say "oh, because of a format change in 2013, we can't backfill your C-Store purchases. But Zen still works, and you can buy it using the same method!"

It's really hard to find screenshots of STO's original Skills sytem

This should give some idea how bad it was. Each weapons type (and each ship type) had its own skills, at different ranks. If you wanted to, for example, put polaron weapons on a star cruiser, those were both Rear Admiral skills so you'd have to spend most of your points on those two things.

It was brutal.

They really should bring back the two-hour long ground/space Borg missions with hard-fail conditions that only granted a small chance of dropping one specific piece of the Omega equipment set.

Yeah it would be nice to have some sort of raid system that actually drops worthwhile loot. A lot of missions carry good rewards but a long queue that gives you a roll system on rare items would be nice. All of the mob items are complete trash and serve no purpose. I would also like to see new R&D crafting recipes to drop so we could actually get more variety of items to craft such as set items.

Just logged in for the first time in god knows how long and I have 18,000 Zen dollars and no idea how to play the game. Thinking about starting over. I remember the most fun I had with the game was all the leveling up parts and at end game I was just bored so that might be okay.

Remember you can roll up to three different Federation characters (normal, TOS, and Disco), a Klingon, a Romulan, and a Jem-Hadar

By starting over I meant making another character not getting rid of my old one. Sorry should have made that clear.

Oh no I made a Discovery character and then said to myself well I need to watch at least the first season of Discovery first.

Now now, they're both equally bad, just in different ways. But seriously, S1 of disco is just unwatchable bad despite the best efforts of the cast. S2 is... still not good, but at least a lot more coherent and plays to its strengths better.

Also here's the next event thing apparently. https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11245803-halt-the-mycelial-crisis%21 T6 Elachi Qulash Frigate as an account unlock and some elachi cannons to go with it.

Is it official that old events will no longer be finish-able by continuing to play a current event past it's reward?

Hope that makes sense. From that blog it sounds like all the past events I still have queued will only be completed by paying Zen, which is just :jerkbag:

I love the potoo,
and the potoo loves you.
You need 1200 points to get the ship. You can earn 60 points a day. There are three things that award points:

Play the new featured episode: 45 points.

Play the new TFO: 30 points.

Play one of the new patrols: 15 points.

You can do any of those in any combination you like up to the daily cap of 60 - so doing the TFO twice, doing four patrols, doing the episode and a patrol, etc. Regardless of how you do it, if you earn 60 points a day it will take 20 days to earn the new ship - the same time frame previous event ships have required.

So the TFO and 2 patrols once it's on cooldown, got it.

Because like hell I'm going to play the same story episode 20 days in a row.

I'm halfway through playing through the Defeeri/Breen arc. The enemies for the ground mission were a lot harder than usual. I realized that the key to taking down a Breen soldier is to have the engineers have the shield, medical generators, and turrets ready, break through their personal shields, then get in close range and knock them to the ground, then the rest of the team can concentrate their fire and take them out quickly before they get back up, so I liked that it had some practice and strategy involved. I couldn't figure out how to take their warships without calling in an NPC fleet and waiting for the cooldown if it wasn't available, though, so the space missions took a long time. The mission with the interrogation of the Breen prisoner was fantastic and one of the best missions, even though the Deferi ship is a Klingon ship.

Yeah that's something... different isn't it? It doesn't have the special gimmick intel/command/whatever powers, but a cruiser/raider hybrid is something I never expected to see even if they already did a few sciboat/raiders. Relatively durable by escort standards, the exceedingly rare example of two different lt.com universal seats (you're stuck with the commander engineering but eh that's fine), and it's got the cruiser commands that matter and the base raider flanking ability. The only freebie ship that comes close in uniqueness would be the risian escort, and this is definitely the farm more useful of the two.

I don't even know which ship I'd replace in favor of it right now. Honestly I'd probably drydock the Vulcan Scout Ship, I never use the thing because its so fragile.

Nah it's free. It only costs you your time and playing STO is basically just admiting that your time has no value.

Asimo

Yeah the zen cost is absurd, but at least it's proportionately pro-rated if you only manage part of the event and have to buy out later. I didn't even know that the creaking relic that is the in-store code could handle that.

This was partly answered in the dev twitch stream, according to the notes on reddit:

"They hadn't decided yet what they'll do with the already slotted projects."
"You likely would be able to finish your started progress in next runs of relevant seasonal events (summer, winter, anniversary)."

Not sure if it's the same item you got, but there is currently a borg arm gun thing as a reward for one of the borg arc episodes.

So I've started grinding Klingon/Ferengi Admiralty on my main and I have a question about Tour of Duty missions. What I would like to know is if there is any sort of timing or logic as to when they appear ? I had Ferengi 7/10 show up last night and after I claimed it today 8/10 showed up 5 jobs later.
