Kevyn posted:So with the iPad Air 2 likely to be shown Thursday, can we expect some trade in deals? I wanna swap my 16gb Air for an Air 2 with more space. If it's in good shape, it's always WAY more cost-efficient to sell your device on eBay, Craigslist, or SA Mart. I'm sure there will be trade-ins everywhere, though.

I bought the original Mini shortly after it came out, dropping it and cracking the screen days later. The upgrades look great, but with the 6+, I'm strongly considering downsizing to one device. If Apple had only made a "normal" sized iPhone, it would have been a no brainer: New iPhone and new Mini. I don't understand Apple these days.

I don't understand Apple these days. Demand for giant phones, which are useless to me for things like Procreate, which I will be buying an Air2 with. I upgraded my Mom's iPad2 to a Mini because she has arthritis and the mini is better suited for her reading/etc whereas a 6+ would be too big to upgrade from her 5. More choices are better as long as it's within a tight range, really (no one wants Apple to return the shittastic 1990's though).

I really hope they do not gimp the Mini with a lack of upgrades. I don't want the full size Air.

iPad Air 2 is an awesome upgrade for anyone who skipped the first Air. I skipped it because I wasn't going to shell out another $699 for the same old 1GB RAM. Looks like that paid off. $100 less than last year, too. iPad mini fan got the finger this year though. A8 supplies must be constrained as hell (plus Apple is cheap).

Athletic Footjob posted:It's $100 cheaper if he was after the 64GB or 128GB versions. Correct. There's no way I'd buy a 16GB iOS device, and 32GB wasn't cutting anymore so I bought a 64GB iPad 4 when they came out. Still lovely that the base model is only 16 but at least the upsell is less painful now.

I have no particular need for lots of storage on my iPad because I use it almost exclusively as an internet device, but I still might have to shell out the extra cash for 64GB just so I don't feel paranoid about potentially running out of space. I am bitter about this. 32GB would be the perfect sweet spot.

Once iPad 3 hit with a retina screen it seemed like app sizes went through the roof, going to a 64GB Air 2 from my 64GB iPad 3 will feel not so bad with the price drop on storage. Still stupid that the base model still only has 16GB.

Ah well, coming from an OG mini, the screen, touchID and the huge processor spec bump will be nice. I'll finalize my decision when I see how 8.1 performs on Monday.

japtor posted:Some part leaks showed it, otherwise officially Apple has never mentioned RAM. Someone at the hands on might've installed Geekbench or something by now though. There's a post with a photo here: http://www.macrumors.com/2014/10/13/ipad-air-2-a8x-2-gb-ram/ It's still iffy on whether it indeed includes 2GB RAM. Some people are saying Apple would've touted the doubled RAM in the presentation if it indeed has it, but Apple rarely mentions RAM amounts when discussing iOS devices. I genuinely hope it does have 2GB, but if not, I'll probably upgrade anyway for the CPU increase and weight savings.

Apple has the refurb Retina Mini iPads for 250/300 for 16gb/32gb. This a good enough deal to take? I love my current original mini but the slowdown using safari is unbearable. I just need something to last me over until a significant upgrade for the mini happens.

Now, if I could get the 128gb model for 399 then I don't know.
