Thirding this. It's a decent Arkham/AC-ish game if you're competent, but to make it interesting you'll want to go ahead and let yourself die every other hour or so.
I mostly agree but from a different angle. It's more fun if you're not afraid to just put yourself in over your head rather than sneaking everywhere clearing out fortresses and playing safe. You're an immortal ghost ranger, so don't be afraid to just drop on top of a captain and start going at them while they have a twenty orc entourage. Your failures are rewarded by orcs going up in level, which means they drop better loot when you do kill them, and by cool one-liners about putting your man-filth body back in the ground. Your successes are rewarded by a moment of clarity where you realise you're standing on the corpses of dozens of orcs that you've spent the last ten minutes fighting in a blur of awesome moves that only ended because all the rest of them ran away in fear.

Played Ziggurat for about 45 minutes and it feels like Tower of Guns meets Binding of Isaac style random items/upgrades/staffs/weapons, combined with Hexen/Heretic gameplay.

The gameplay is run n' gun FPS, use scenery/strafing to your advantage and your starting gun staff is wimpy but has unlimited(recharging) ammo. The other guns you find as you progress through levels use one of your mana pools when shot.

So far I found a staff that shoots 5 homing things but you have to lock your target first, a staff that shot out something like 8 horizontal-spread shots, a shotgun-like fireball staff, and a machine gun poison staff.

You start out each game level 1 and enemies drop experience points that you have to go pickup ala Tower of Guns, mana pool recharge crystals or health potions. When I was shooting bosses I saw them spitting out mana recharge crystals but it was too hectic to tell how often or if it was at set intervals regardless of me hitting them.

Gaining enough experience and you get a levelup screen with two perks to choose from, examples being: run faster after getting hit, regen health when breaking barrels, get more exp per exp pickup, get more <one of 3 types> mana when picking up that color crystal, some sort of full health/mana/gain a level recharge or lose 25% health gamble card.

I died 3 times and each time I died I was unlocking 2 or 3 items/perks/somethings so this will get interesting pretty fast I imagine.

Was fun to play, the guns "felt" like tower of guns where enemies would flash red when hit but not really otherwise give you feedback on the hits. It was clear when I was landing hits, but it was not clear how much damage I was doing or what secondary effects I might be causing.

Yet both have been fixed now, which make it a bit moot? The level design still isn't amazing, but both the sound and AI are working. No real reason to say they aren't.

This has nothing to do with the sale, but it's worth mentioning.

If you own the Early Access title Nuclear Throne (which is pretty good!) then keep an eye on your Steam inventory - Vlambeer is going to send everyone who owns the game a second gift copy for free on January 1. This is because they're morally opposed to discounting Early Access games, but really really need feedback from folks who haven't been playing the game for months on end.

Also it takes things that would have been full player-solvable puzzles in previous games and pretty much solves them for you through the magic of visual highlights.

Thief has a rather detailed custom difficulty mode where you can peel away pretty much every single part of the UI and extra poo poo that detracts from the "true Thief experience" to make it as non-hand-holdy as you want it to be.

From the chunk that I played of it, the thing really dragging Thief down is poor optimization and really rough edges. The game went through development hell and it plays like it. But even then I still don't think it's as bad as its reputation. I got a slightly better deal on it than the current Steam price though...

Lego Marvel is really great, but all the other Lego games are very, very similar. If you enjoy the gameplay, just pick up any that interest you for the story. Like, if you enjoy Harry Potter, get the Harry Potter ones.

I impulse bought Nuclear Throne when someone in the IRC channel said they're giving a free copy to people who buy it before the first. It's really fun but it's really hard for me since I suck at bullet hell games. At least in Binding of Isaac Rebirth if you get lucky with items you can mitigate bullet damage.

I think you might be talking about Process Explorer ( http://technet.microsoft.com/pl-pl/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx )

Have that running, and next time you lose focus, hit alt-F4 and watch for which process is exiting in Process Explorer, then you will have found your culprit.

Despite its unending weirdness, I can't get into this game, mostly because there isn't much "game" there. You just keep clicking and events happen. There isn't really a narrative throughline or story to follow, so you just make choices moment to moment, and they don't seem to build on each other.

So I bought this Hero Siege game, and I think I'm really lovely at it.

I am moving super slowly and dying to a stiff breeze and every time I enter a Crypt or a Dungeon I don't make it out alive and I've never lived long enough to keep my items or potion stat boosts. Switching from Viking to Pyromancer really helped, but I find myself dying in bursts and not by paper cuts.

I'm still playing it, because I can feel that it will be fun sometime soon, just... what am I missing?

For reference, I got Plat God/True Plat God on Isaac/Rebirth, so I'm not totally helpless with these types of games, but I'm also not very good at video games in general.

Sure, but like... it seems like potion boosts are so strong that they're worth at least four levels of XP, and dying doesn't let me carry those over. I'm just gonna try to get good and maybe get lucky with potions? :shobon:

These two games have some of the most valuable cards and icons on Steam, and I have no idea why. I haven't played the video game version of these, but I can vouch for Hive being absolutely baller IRL, and Khet being a bit of a weak entry into lazer-chess.
