Name the place. I don't really know any places. I've been singing karaoke and shooting pool at this joint a bit east on 13 Mile. I've also been to a couple of places closer to where I live, but I am not very familiar with the city, overall. I work north of the city, so Royal Oak, Troy, Madison Heights, Rochester, etc, are all pretty doable for something like lunch during the week. On the weekends, it doesn't matter. I don't mind driving, so an hour each way is OK, but 30 minutes is better.

Hello again, Centripetal Horse! I'm happy to see this thread pop-up...I had been wondering/worrying about you occasionally. I assumed you were hard at work, but I know that change is often weirdly difficult. Add a handful of mental and physical issues, and you're in for a struggle. However, as you continue to prove, you're made of some pretty tough stuff. Especially happy to hear about your continual incremental growth, and that you've obtained access to (maybe) affordable healthcare. You 'deserve' something good to happen by now...gently caress. Keep on keepin on, bud!

I happen to live in the Detroit area and can help out with the car if you ever need to do some stuff to it. I have tools and am a As for the apartment heat, have you talked to your landlord? I know it's getting warmer around here somewhat, but it might not hurt. If it's an old style boiler (you mentioned radiators) sometimes they just need the air bled out of them and then they actually work. There's a screw or fitting on them usually to bleed air from it, simply loosen and have a rag ready and then tighten it up when water comes out.

I thought this thread had fallen out of existence. Mound Road ate one of my tired the other day, which is how I discovered that Pep Boys put non-standard lug nuts on my loving wheels when I bought a set of tires from them. It's also how I discovered that Pep Boys is apparently run by thieves, because my full-size spare disappeared and was replaced by a loving donut. Actually, I discovered that quite a while back, but it fit in with the rest of the story, so I went with it. Seen so far: Primary care physician, twice. Neurologist, twice. Urgent care, once. I am having a distressing problem breathing. The urgent care doctor basically said, "Your lungs sound fine, you must be an idiot," but he gave me a prescription for an inhaler and antibiotics, anyway. The inhaler does nothing, I have not taken the antibiotics. In the mean time, I haven't felt like I've had enough air in my lungs for two weeks. So, keep checking back, everdave, I may yet be on the way out. On the list: pulmonologist, cardiologist, and possibly sad-brains specialist. BULLETKISS posted:Yo..where you at? Updates plz! Sorry! Still sort of settling in. Trying to get the hang of my new job. I like the people, but either I am not asking the right questions, or my co-workers don't have the right answers. I still feel pretty useless, but I am working hard. I am paying back a couple of goons who helped get me safely out to Detroit, and trying to put together an actual household. My medical problems have not gone away, although my blood pressure is better since I lost weight, even after putting some of it back on. My heart has been acting up a bit, lately, which is why a cardiologist is back on the list. As soon as my primary care physician gets the records from the cardiologist I saw in Las Vegas, I am going back for a consultation. All in all, it's been pretty tough, and whatever is wrong in my brain makes me want to quit every day, but I'm fighting it. The_Book_Of_Harry posted:The guy has depression, right? Probably. I was forced to ride like a square from that point on, because a cop gave me a wheelie ticket and a high-five.

Some people do have constant shortness of breath without actually being short of breath but it's kind of rare. Did the doctor put a little clip on your finger when you went in there? If not at your next appointment ask them to take an SPO2. Should be above 96 without any effort on your part. If it's like 93 or 94 that's unusual. They will probably say the machine isn't working right (because of your age and a relatively non-stressed presentation they'll doubt the machine which is a good clinical instinct but you do need to trust it eventually), just have them try it on one of their fingers and as a control. I'm sure the pulmonologist will do this anyway. Lung sounds are fairly difficult to learn and more of an art than a science outside of emergency type lung problems. I wouldn't trust a rando at an urgent care's judgement on them myself. Because you have a problem that's giving you discomfort but not disabling you its also going to be quite subtle, but I would expect a pulmonologist to handle it. Expect a chest X-ray. I would be curious if oxygen helps or not. Personally if I listened to your lungs and didn't hear anything and then put you on O2 and you said you felt better I'd be inclined to think there's an actual treatable issue there even if the SPO2 monitor didn't move much (although it almost certainly will unless it's already at 100 once the oxygen is on). If your appointment is far away and you're curious one weekend you could go find an oxygen bar and try it out -- if they have those in tha D. raton fucked around with this message at 05:33 on Apr 15, 2016 |

I'm sure the pulmonologist will do this anyway. Doctors always check blood oxygen, these days. Mine was 97% at the urgent care facility, so meh. Because of my other issues, I've had (at least) two chest x-rays, and a handful of EKGs in the past year or so. The day before I went to the urgent care, I had a ridiculous wheeze (or maybe stridor, since it was only on inhale.) I would suck in a breath, and for like half a second after I stopped pulling, air would still be audibly wheezing into my lungs. It was just like using a hand-operated pump, where you pull the plunger out too fast, and create a vacuum, but it takes a while for the water to rush in and fill the space. That lasted exactly one day, and was gone, or at least not audible to the naked ear, the next day when I went to the urgent care. I've had these symptoms, once before. It was so obvious and concerning, that my buddy, Mike (the one who passed away), constantly nagged me about going to the emergency room. This went on for weeks, until Mike injured himself and landed in the emergency room. I went to get him, and he harassed me into checking myself in while I was there. They didn't find anything, and I just lived with the symptoms for weeks longer. I am not entirely sure they ever went away, but they got better enough that it stopped being frightening. When I look up the symptoms, I get 85% "heart," 10% "COPD/asthma/other," and about 5% "anxiety." I've mentioned all these things, including anxiety (although I don't feel anxious, and I don't think I have the other symptoms associated with that) to doctors, but all they've ever done is listen to my lungs, and take x-rays, and then dismiss it. I am also curious if the oxygen would do anything. I still have the symptoms, and the inhaler does exactly nothing. If it didn't say Ventolin and albuterol on it, I'd suspect it was distilled water, because the doctor seemed to think I was an idiot. Are you a medical professional of some sort? I don't recall if you've ever specified.
