Loss reminds me of the aristocrats in that it's for the most part an inside joke, ends with a fixed (but often unexpected) punchline, has elements of social transgression, and most of the humor comes from the execution. Overall though he aristocrats leans more into the transgression (it will almost always involve some explicit degeneracy while loss is often only historically related to miscarriage) and less into surprise (an aristocrats joke can be direct about what it is while loss usually set up such that recognizing how it's loss is the punchline).
