I just got the UCS Slave 1 and it was a total blast to build and looks amazing on my shelf. How does the new UCS Tie match up? I heard its a bit duller to build and seems like a worse value price wise.

I mean, if you like TIE fighters it's still pretty great, but it's no Slave I. You can find it on sale pretty frequently, seems like.

I haven't built the Slave 1, but I thought the Tie was a fairly fun build. Not as fun as the Red Five was, but the Tie does look sweet.....but I love Tie fighters, so I could be biased.

Good grief, lego are still putting out new Minecraft sets? I thought that well had dried up.

I was at a restaurant for lunch today and some 10-ish year old kid had a lego catalog with him (the monthly one they toss in your bag when you shop at the lego store), he was going nuts over the minecraft sets.

So yeah kids still bonkers for minecraft.

Lego minecraft is so bizarre. Not from a business standpoint, but just conceptually it's so weird. Like, there is this game that is basically Lego in game form except really lovely looking, but it's popular so Lego licensed it and made sets. The end result is that the aesthetic of a Lego minecraft set is "Lego, but shittier looking"

Marmaduke!

Why would it do that!?
Reminds me of how they made a movie of Street Fighter, and then Capcom released a game version of the movie which looked and played really weird. But it kinda worked, I guess?

Feels like a wasted opportunity for some awesome microscale landscapes. I'd buy sets consisting of piles of 1x1 tiles and plates in a range of colors

I like Minecraft lego since you get simplistic pieces that can be used in many builds. Its probably over priced. But it reminds me of lego from the 80s which was nice and simple with few specialised bricks that can only really be used in specific situations. I actually got my son into Minecraft the game as a way to get him into Minecraft the lego... he prefers Star Wars lego.

It makes a degree of sense to just work with your "competitor" in a slightly different field instead of trying to sink a ton of resources into fighting them in that field (video games) when they have a head start. I am sure Lego would rather be making Minecraft sets than Microsoft starting up a "physical Minecraft" brand. If I am remembering correctly weren't Lego actually trying to develop their own Minecraft competitor game? Something like a modern version of Lego Creator, which I loved when I was a kid. It even had some rudimentary logic stuff in it because you could set up dynamite to blow your stuff to bits.

I think you are referring to Lego Worlds, it is currently on steam as an early access for $14.99, you can also preorder an Xbone or PS4 version for twice as much. I have only watched a very small amount of gameplay footage where some guy using a helicopter (looked premade, not like a MOC) and he was collecting currency (gold studs), so I am assuming it's probably more of a plop down premade designs than open world. it's definitely got a different mechanism than Minecraft, I think I you also buy blocks instead of just collecting everything. The console versions listed a release date 2/21/17 and the Steam page also said it was leaving early access in February, that must be like the first game ever to leave early access hell.

I think I'm gonna do that for Assembly Square, but in 2016, the earliest 2x points was in March. Not sure if I can resist that long, despite the fact that I haven't even opened the boxes for like the last 4 modulars (no space to display).

What is the reason behind their huge markups anyways? They price match but still where do they get off charging like 30% more than any other retailer? I've never bought set there that didn't involve having to go to Customer service to get the proper price.

So a box is 3 complete sets of the batman minifigs?

Has the minifig boxes always been like this? (several complete sets) I was under the impression that most of the series had a completely random distribution, only the Disney series had 3 complete sets guaranteed in the box.

R2 units got me wondering earlier this year if they'll ever make new molds for the droids they do put in sets. They've been using the same one for what, ever since their inception?
