Are they not reaching their demo and pissed that only 20 somethings are just watching and not buying the toys or merch? Just a heads up: Mystery Inc. came back on Tuesday, I think so it could have a one hour finale on Friday, but I JUST happened to see that my DVR wasn't set to record Friday's episodes (which would be their last). So IF YOU'RE A FAN OF MYSTERY INCORPORATED AND YOU'VE BEEN DVRING EPISODES, CHECK YOUR DVR TO MAKE SURE IT'S SET TO RECORD THE ONE HOUR FINALE TOMORROW @ 5 ET. Because you KNOW they're not running it again.

Looks like I'm good to go. I only noticed a few minutes ago that there were episodes on this week that got recorded, I thought they'd decided to throw the show back in the closet when it didn't air on Monday.

Mr Wind Up Bird posted:Samurai Jack is a lot more weird than I remember. If you look at any episode and try to summarize it you sound like an insane person. That episode was awesome. The scottsman with the gun leg was awesome. The one I always found funny was when Jack is fighting like a hundred robots and slashed them all up and he's covered head to toe in oil. It's like they really wanted to make a bloody battle but obviously couldn't get away with it so they had them be oil filled robots.

With older kid's shows, does anyone remember Cybergirl, an Aussie show in the early 2000s? It was terrible, but in a fun-to-watch kinda way. I especially liked what happened to the villainous robots at the end The male one (who is obsessed with junk food and is actually kinda sweet when he's not being evil) gets reprogrammed into an ice-cream man, and the female one (who is the stern, totally cold, emotionless one) get's turned into a police officer. It was terrible looking back, but I loved it all the same.

Whitenoise Poster posted:The last episodes of Scooby Doo: MI were kinda intense. Yeah, uh, I thought I'd knock them out tonight? Really bad idea, it turns out. First they kill off practically loving everybody. Then they reverse it by whisking the gang off to an alternate dimension that not only renders all their achievements null and void, but made any future achievements in their field impossible. And then they turned that cruel loving punchline into triumph with Harlan Ellison's invitation, which not only sets up the premise of the original show, but gives them the opportunity to choose to be together, addressing a major theme that came up in the last few episodes. I hate to say that this gave me emotional whiplash because I can say similar things about some top tier cable dramas, and craft-wise, MI doesn't come close. The characters are a little too broad, the plotting a little too rough and rushed, the acting a little too gamey. But I gotta tell you, that's the phrase I keep coming back to. This show REALLY sucked me in, and I'm sad it won't continue. (Even though it's hard to imagine it continuing without that supporting cast I've grown to like, almost as much as the gang itself.)

I finally got to see the last bunch of episodes, and I have to say I never thought I'd be watching a Scooby Doo show with any kind of gunfire, let alone one where the supporting cast is completely executed. I'd have preferred it if the evil entity also turned out to be another guy in a suit, but what we got was nevertheless pretty great. It would have been cool to see more of this show, because I'd have loved to see more Hanna-Barbara team ups, but it ended on a pretty great note. Offhand, I also liked a lot of things about the show, like how they explained why they always encounter kooks in rubber masks, why Scooby can talk, and why the gang is on a seemingly endless road trip most of the time, as well as how they managed to somehow make the story tie in (somewhat) plausibly to Sealab, Dynomutt, Jonny Quest, and Twin loving Peaks. Edit: Haha, wow, Amy Acker played the dog, the ex-mayor was Gary Cole, and the Man From Another Place was actually voiced by the Man From Another Place? Does it take place after the last series? Is Ray still the group leader?

So I saw the trailer for the new Teen Titans thing, and it looks like utter trash. Stylistically it's a mashup of the original Teen Titan designs and Power Puff Girls. The writing and humor looks and sounds pretty terrible. It's like they hired all the bad writers from Ben 10 Ultimate Alien and confined them in a room together. (Which might explain why Omniverse is so much better.)

Apparently the new Xiaolin Chronicles date is early October. What we need to do is get the ratings up by watching when it comes on, because I, for one, would love DVDs of both series, and that's just not gonna happen with how (apparently) poorly the original series rated. I don't want to rely on Youtube anymore

Man I wasn't expecting that reaction from here. I watched the first episode and felt like I just watched an episode of Johnny Test. Mediocre comedy and really, really ugly and cheap looking designs and colors and animation. And I never watched the original Teen Titans or the two canceled super hero shows so it's not like I have anything to be mad about. EDIT: That being said a lot of the hate aimed at is is kinda excessive. Whitenoise Poster fucked around with this message at 00:41 on Apr 26, 2013 |

It's basically The Justice Friends from Dexter's Lab but with more obtuse references to a decade old cartoon based on a 30 year old comic. I'll agree that the animation isn't really the strong suit here, but what separates it stuff like Johnny Test and Mad is that there is at least some understanding of how a "joke" might be formed and the voice actors actually know what they are doing instead of just screaming into the microphone.

They're cutting off the 90's Nick Block at 2 am now. It's really annoying because I'm a bit of a nighthawk and I usually study around the 2 to 3 am hours. Having the old Nick shows as background noise helps quite a bit. I can say that the other Teennick shows are rather terrible. I was subjected to one called "How to Rock" where it had Ceelo Green as the big guest star. One of the moments within the show featured a girl doing a call in show to get tickets, and the group of teens somehow, someway didn't know who either "Journey" or the "Beastie Boys" were. They had to then track down some porn stache wearing teacher, and he helped them out. By the way, I didn't know you could do a "Battle of the Bands" without actually playing an instrument. also, what is Degrassi's appeal? I remember even as a kid being annoyed that they would air that on "The N"/Noggin instead of more episodes of "Pete and Pete", and "Daria". My God, it's like they combined everything you hate about Johnny Test with some show that's trying to emulate the worst aspects of Johnny test while also trying to be quirky. Gender swapping super hero/heroine, fine I've seen stranger. The origins can't be any more out there than most established stuff like Ultra Humanite's origins in the Power Girl comics. But the characters and dialogue are all cringe worthy. The Taint Reaper fucked around with this message at 04:49 on May 3, 2013 |

Accidently didn't flip the channel until after "Zoey 101" was over, and wow...Dan Schneider is possibly the worst producer/writer in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Schneider_(TV_producer) His only marginally good moments were being involved in the "Good Burger" movie (which is not a bad watch) and the "Kenan and Kel" TV movie. Also, all copies of "Big Fat Liar" should be found and destroyed. Paul Giamatti deserved better than to be in the piece of garbage.
