MLP and Jem are solid books. And Last Unicorn is at least intriguing. The novel and movie are classics.

So are there any iOS apps that let you lock the zoom level to page height? I usually use Comic Zeal but it often decides that because I want to see all of a single page, that it should show both pages at once when there are two pages and it's kind of annoying to read comics like that. I checked Chunky but it doesn't seem to have a lock to height option, just lock to width.

I was interested in the two issues of Bodies I read. I might catch up here.
The Names is a good deal for 9 issues. Anyone make it through that?

e: Might get Effigy too.

Vertigo sale on Comixology, here are my hot takes:
American Vampire - Been meaning to read this series, but the sale's only for volume 7?
Mad Max: Fury Road - Heard it kind of ruins a lot of the mystique behind the movie portrayals, and lessens Furiosa
FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics - Worth it at sale price, pretty and trippy
Coffin Hill, Wolf Moon - Ehhhhh, not bad, but mostly forgettable
Bodies - Centuries-spanning mystery that has trouble sticking its landing, but I enjoyed the ride
The Names - Jaysus, no! Milligan brings some interesting setup to the table but none of it develops or combines in interesting ways at all
Suiciders - Lee Bermejo, y'all. Dirty, nasty, ugly L.A.
Hinterkind - Read 'The Autumnlands' instead
Get Jiro! - Fun story, avoid the prequel at all costs
The Wolf Among Us - I've only read the first trade of Fables, any word on this?
Effigy - Haven't read

I didn't mind the Max or Imortan Joe issues, pretty typical movie tie-ins, but HATED the Furiosa one. It also got a ton of Internet hate. But, talking to people offline, they were mostly between "it's okay" and "I liked it!"

Empowered is an absolute steal at the sale price. No idea about any of the rest though.

There's also a sale on some of Marvel volume 1s starring female leads. Silk vol 0, Ms Marvel 2014, Captain Marvel 2012-13, Avengers: Scarlet Witch and Angela: Assassin of Asgard

Picked up Angela: AoA, I read Ms Marvel when it was first published on Comixology and think it's awesome. I'm kind of considering the others but the cover art on Captain Marvel is a bit off putting and I don't know much about the others.

I sub to MU so I don't ever buy digital Marvel unless I'm foolishly trying to keep up with an event, but I wonder for people who do: why not just sign up for a month of MU and read the sale stuff for much cheaper?

I'm not trying to be critical or anything, I'm just curious what the rationale is.

MU has a terrible interface and unless you've got a long reading binge planned, it's not worth the trouble.

YMMV of course, but having just rejoined MU for a free month, I was reminded what a hassle library management can be.

Oh it is for sure, I use the iOS app which has the fewest complaints afaik, but it still has huge problems, especially compared to, say, the comixology app.

It must be really bad if people are willing to pay 150%+ of the cost for a different platform.

Besides what everyone else has said, MU doesn't have literally everything. There are issues you can buy digitally that aren't on MU. I'm going to have to buy some if I want to read all of Infinity Gauntlet with the tie ins, I think.

Don't worry they will add them when Avengers: Infinity comes out. :v:

I agree it is the thing I dislike about MU. They have next to nothing of old Ghost Rider, Punisher, Silver Surfer, or cosmic marvel in general. Want anything from the 90's that isn't the main Avengers or Amazing Spider-Man? Good luck.

Not really sure where is the best place to post these but G. Willow Wilson had some interesting Tweets regarding digital sales (sorry, I don't know a better way to post tweets than to link them):

https://twitter.com/gwillowwilson/status/722171824478355456

Given that she writes Ms. Marvel, she'd know as well as anyone how much better certain books can do on digital sales. I'd always assumed based on statements by creators and publishers that digital sales were sort of an additive to print sales, adding maybe a small percentage to the total, but not much more. I'd never have guessed you could have digital sales double or multiple times more than print sales.

Marvel hinted in the not-too-distance past that Ms. Marvel, when accounting for digital sales, was outselling Bendis's Uncanny X-Men. I looked at the numbers at the time, and while I don't recall specifically, I do recall that even if Uncanny was selling zero digital copies, it still meant Ms. Marvel was selling thousands of additional copies digitally*. Digital sales are big and getting bigger, and it's largely due to non-traditional comics fans. Unfortunately, no one seems willing to release digital sales figures, so until they do, we'll really only have speculation and occasional hints about how things are *really* selling.

*For fun, if this still holds true, it would mean Ms. Marvel is selling 15000 copies digitally, which is nearly half what it sells in paper.
