I can see them asking this guy, 'why are you so much more of an rear end in a top hat than the other Christians we know?' The MCC does good work. Ten Thousand Villages was the first fair trade organization in the world and they're partnered with the MCC. My parents volunteered for Mennonite Disaster Services in Wichita, rebuilding houses after a tornado. More controversially, they're a part of Christian Peacemaker Teams. After the Balkan Wars, the tiny rural Saskatchewan community I grew up in (largely Mennonite) sponsored a Bosnian family. It was a massive culture shock for them and they moved to Calgary after a few years, but they keep in touch with the community and it sounds like they're doing pretty well. Hopefully the Syrian refugees can integrate despite the negativity. And it's heartening to think that we successfully brought about 25,000 Muslim Bosniaks to Canada and we somehow haven't been wracked with terrorism.

Man, all my catholic priest, who I was an altar boy for 10 years for, did was embezzle a large amount of money to go gambling at the Casino du Lac Leamy. That would be an ecumenical matter. (But seriously, it was him self-medicating his depression. And when the story broke, I did reach out to him and offer my support because he was a good priest,, and a good man)

Pearson and Pierre Trudeau airports will see about 900 refugees a day. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/up-to-900-syrian-refugees-a-day-to-land-in-toronto-montreal-document-1.2666663 Some of them will be sent to Cornwall. Why are we doing this to them? Why aren't we sending our own homeless to Cornwall?

I knew a person who lived a high lifestyle on a pittance income, and ended up stealing from their girlfriend and her family to gamble the money (thousands on credit cards). What a good person, to saddle others with debt, and they couldn't sue as he fled the country back home
