That area of southern California is old rural money that no one has really been able to break into and it's as close as socal gets to mountainous terrain so little large scale development takes place. The real surprise is that those animals haven't been burned in one of the frequent wildfires that sweep through there all the time now.

It's always annoyed me. I do really like the colors, though. When I was trying to buy a house, I automatically rejected any that had been remodeled into gray voids (and then I bought a house that had colored walls and repainted half of them anyway).

Looking for an assist on height of some floating kitchen shelves. I put them up last week, I can't quite decide but something about the height of them seems off. I started with the lower one, which was higher, and i lowered a bit because i thought the phone (which is in a weird spot, but staying) looked odd. Someone clue me in as to which shelf i should move up or down (or both?) The goal is to use for some decor and some practical storage, like the pyrex bowls that are on there - for that reason I don't want to move the top one too high, but it could move a bit and they'd still be within reach. My mind maybe thinks the spacing between the two is too large but that's all I can come up with. help!

High five voxtorp bro, love walnut, hate handles here.. Ty for feedback, appreciate more from others. idk something just whack still, in person at least. I should note i went two years with nothing there, had intended to get floating shelves so finally did (super cheap Ikea stuff that's sorta flimsy though)

Not as ubiquitous as other 70s choices but still something you'd see from time to time. My parents' main bathroom had blue sinks/tub/shower/toilet with a brown/off-white/blue patterned floor and brown/off-white owl-print wallpaper. And brass plumbing. It looked dated by the time 1983 rolled around.

God, I love that pink bathroom with the hummingbirds and all-original tiled-in soap holders and lamps. If the next owner 'remodels' it, they are a monster. e: You want dated? In the early 1970s, our upstairs bathroom was wallpapered with aluminum foil, which was first crumpled, straightened out, and then attached to the walls with rubber cement. All the woodwork was purple. There was a lavender carpet that was regularly pulled up and washed. I thought it was amazing, and so did all my friends who came to visit. I think my parents got the aluminum foil idea from a woman's magazine.
