Goddamn I wish Topatoco's international shipping costs weren't so extortionate. I can't justify the cost of the Homestuck books, I sure as hell can't justify SB&HJ. Ludicrously overpriced fake-person signature or no.

While this is an interesting turn for Dirk in terms of his control issues as well as Roxy by addressing her long-repressed (if poorly-concealed) feelings... well, when the sugar rush is over, isn't Dirk still gay? I'm guessing trickster Dirk is going to be willing to happily declare that if it would be easier for him to not be gay, or to be bi or whatever, in order to solve their problems then sure he can do that. Once they snap out of it though he's probably going to go back to normal - I don't think Hussie would want to imply that Dirk growing out of his gayness is going to be part of his personal development, even if kissing Roxy was a step to giving up his control issues.

Is anyone else having the issue that they just literally cannot picture Trickster Dirk? Being that energetic and enthusiastic in any way is so un-Strider that it just will not coalesce in my mind.

Interestingly, we have a chain going on here: Calliope trickstered Jane by sending her the juju. Jane trickstered Jake by kneeing him in the family jujuwels. Jake trickstered Roxy with a pumpkin to the head. Roxy trickstered Dirk with a drunben shmoochp. Logically, Dirk should then somehow close the loop by being responsible for the Cals' jujus.

Yeah I'm fully expecting Trickstered Dirk to have a line that goes something like "BOY IT SURE IS BETTER KISSING GIRLS AND NOT BEING GAY" that is about as unsettling as Roxy going "BOY BOOZE SURE IS AWESOME WHAT WAS I THINKING TRYING TO GO SOBER" to really drive home the point that Trickster Mode is not the happy-go-lucky perfect powerup it might have appeared to be.

That won't work and you know it. Also, something I just thought about : That fourth wall in Jake's pocket? It's small, right? Well the one Jade and John are seeing on the other side of the Yard is the same size as the one they went through. Does that mean when they come out, they'll be tiny?

I mean, he was perfectly willing to waste time drawing stupid pornography for Caliborn, just to have someone to talk to. And we how he kept leaving awkward pesterlog messages for Jake when they had a falling out. I think he's got sort of an inverted version of Dave's problem. I've been thinking this for a while. It really tells you something about someone when they build a big bunch of robots and entire AI just to have someone to talk to. I guess that's why I've always been fine with Dirk, despite his competency and such, he was clearly way more of a hosed up mess than just about any other straight away, whereas a lot of the other character's flaws took a while to show up, I always felt his was fairly obvious from relatively early. Incidentally, I think I'm looking forward more to the Dirk/Rose and Dave/Roxy meet ups than the direct pairs. Dirk always struck me as more like Rose than his little bro, irony or no.

Dave consciously imitates his bro and tries to be aloof, while Rose comes by it naturally.

We still have no clear information as to what the pony's deal is. Maybe it's a tiny robot Dirk made in memory of his bro. Maybe B2 Dave only ate most of Maplehoof, leaving a tinier horse because that's how that works. Probably neither.

I have become the young man in the bedroom. It is me. I am Homestuck.
