Are DOTA games really like 40 minutes? This is my first dip into the genre but if that's the case I don't really care if this is the baby version, I don't have any interest in matches that long.

Yes, if you're lucky

There was a time in Dota 2's history when 20-35 minute games were the norm, but then Valve decided that it was bad that games would end before the 40 minute mark. They made towers stronger, added comeback gold, added shrines, added passive gold, added tower armor auras and whatever so now every game lasts 40+ minutes unless one team is way, way worse than the other.

The reason why Valve did this was not to make the game more fun to play, but to make eSports more interesting to watch

Dota 2 is not a very good game anymore

That's weird, I heard it was 35 minutes for a typical match. They also just reduced the number of shrines and doubled the rate of jungle camp spawns and some other stuff to speed up games

Communism will help more white people than anyone else. Any equal measures unfairly provide less to minority populations just because there's less of them. Democracy is truly the tyranny of the mob.

The problem is that if both teams are bad the game is taking an hour

i wanted to post the 200 minute pro match from a couple years back but i could only find the highlights reel and not the actual full game.

hots is way more fun to me because of how fast the games are done with. less stressful too.

Does DOTA2 not have easy mode? Warcraft 3 DOTA used to have a mode with increased gold/xp that lasted like 20 minutes which is what I always played

Well you see, loot boxes are different because I get them quicker and have more things in them and also I didnt ask for them to be added I'll have you know

My more serious answer is I'm more talking about the Steam Market for dota 2

If you see a thing you want and you don't want to waste time/gold waiting for it to drop from a loot box, just use shards to buy it. That's what they're there for.

You can buy them in full packages. Most of the skins available are made by individual artists rather than just from the company itself, and they get a pretty generous portion of the proceeds. Aside from that, a lot of the pieces are literal pennies on the steam market. When I quit dota and dumped my cosmetics, a ton of them were (and still are) worth literally 2-3 cents a piece.

It's fun but it isn't AS fun because you're seeing everything zoomed out from the top down. It isn't like in TF2 where you dunk someone with your terribly gaudy Soldier cosmetics and he has to stare at your mug for a few seconds.

Yeah, I tried going for the Carapace Abathur build and it just wasn't enough. It was nice to get some incidental health on a tank while they're moving around between lanes, but I'd rather put that hat on a minion wave to soak XP and let them find a globe on their own. Mines and Locusts are far better; improving the hat is such a low priority compared to improving Abathur's other utilities that it's just too much of an opportunity cost.

Carapace took a big hit with a recent nerf-slash-bugfix. It used to be that even though the AOE Carapace talent said the additional ones were untalented, it gave everything it hit the heal and the shield stayed after Symbiote ended. With those in place Carapace Abathur could actually put up some decent healing over time. Now with that removed I just can't imagine it stacks up anymore, like you said.

When I die, I hope they say I made the eSports industry a better place than I made millions of dollars.
This game is pretty great right now because you can bring friends into play it and they can figure out a hero they like in 2 or 3 matches. I played League for a long time but got tired of keeping up with it and DOTA has an enormous information burden that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I can't fathom why anyone would complain about the hero buying system Blizzard has especially for multiple pages considering they just gave everyone 20 for free and you can buy some of the cheaper ones after clearing like one set of daily quests and matches. I think I've maybe spent $10 on this game on a skin or two like 2 years ago and that was totally unnecessary. No one has to spend any money on this game the pace of unlocking stuff is really fast for a F2P game.

With ggwp and big shot Dva can do an absurd amount of damage. Bunny hop is great for chasing people down to lay on the hurt and slow for your team mates.

But yeah don't bother shooting anyone that isn't already low health, whether that means mages or beat up tanks

Because the game launched two years ago in an already crowded market with an absurd asking price for heroes, and even now keeps that trend going.

It's why no one loving plays it despite largely being a step up in terms of playability. These bundles are also going away in two days.

Any tips on playing Rag? I tried him out and his moveset seems really fun but I felt ineffective and died a lot. Any melee assassin tips in general would be cool, I've mainly played Muradin/Zarya/Uther so far, so a guy that can't take hits is something I seem to be having trouble with.
