I don't think it's a time constraint so much as it is the average person watching football doesn't want a big in-depth technical explanation of stuff. They want to maybe highlight some key stuff about how this guy threw a good block, but not that the 3-technique getting reached blocked was disastrous to the run fit or anything like that. John Madden/Tony Romo are sometimes kinda there, but I think crucially they're wrapping it up with enthusiasm or predictions or stuff like that.

Real in-depth technical stuff for non-coaches has like exploded in the past decade, but it's not even the kinda thing where even most teams have hired a guy like Fran Duffy or what have you who does kind of more niche online/web based technical stuff.

For Sky's broadcasts in the UK they tend to do breakdowns on plays regularly, mainly because they don't have as many ad breaks to fill as the US broadcasters so they have to put some kind of content there. The BBC tends to do the same on their weekly round-up show as well

When I was still in my mid twenties I worked with a kid who was probably 19-20. He came to work at this place because he was trying to save money for a Jaguar he wanted to buy. I gather he was really close when he started with us because he had it in only a couple of months. This was a second-shift job and I believe he had a morning job as well.

He got the car on a Friday.

He showed up the following Monday and I saw him pointing to a gigantic purple spot on his chest. He had wrapped the Jaguar around a telephone pole going over a hundred miles per hour with drunk him driving and his drunk friend and several underage drunk girls in the backseat of the car. Dudes entire torso was a giant bruise.

It was not a new vehicle but from.what I recall it was definitely a five-figure bill for what amounted to a rental and a court date.

Last year was kinda sad for a guy who was so good for so long. He just can't make anyone miss anymore. Block everything perfectly or surprise the other team with a timely play call and he's fine, put him on the edge one on one with someone and the other guy is going to make the tackle. Which is obviously not the Shady we'll remember.

I guess it's possible he was dealing with some unreported injury or something, but he's probably just done.

Find someone who values you like Rick Spielman values 7th round picks.

After talk about people breaking stuff down, I figured I would make a list of some of the of people I watch or listen to for breakdowns.

Alex Rollins:
He usually does single player breakdowns, but also does some team breakdowns and such. Usually good content and interesting to watch as he breaks down offensive concepts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hAQhwOq0kc

Brett Kollman:
Him an Alex Rollins usually have similar types of content covering different players. I like Brett a little more because I think his content has a bit more polish and his voice holds the audience a bit more. He is also a Texans fan and is distraught with BoB.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0E9epqVWgU

Brian Baldinger:
Former NFL offensive lineman that breaks down film, usually focuses on single players in single games. His twitter is mostly active during the season when he will break down stuf right after the game about why someone was successful.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfZXuiV4jJQ

He also has a film series where he sits down with players and talks about individuals plays.
https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1288988338750357511

Not usually as instructive in most of his stuff as Kollman or Rollins, but fun to watch.

Dan Orlovsky:
Former NFL QB who famously started for the 0-16 Lions and got a safety on himself when he ran out the back of the endzone. That being said he is a cool dude, and has a good sense of humor about stuff. He doesnt have a dedicated youtube channel, but posts stuff on his twitter.

https://twitter.com/danorlovsky7
https://twitter.com/danorlovsky7/status/1288836792033185793

Brian Sutterer MD:
He has been posted in various thread before, but he is a Doctor who works at the Mayo clinic who breaks down various injuries from sports players and gives his medical opinion on injury, rehab, prognosis, and what happened / caused the injury. Not play by play, but very cool and informative stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl2yynyhZk0
Video changed due to 1st being possibly :nms:

NFL Youtube:
The NFL youtube also has a playlist of different players talking about technique and plays etc.
