Reading the new crime anthology/novella "Broken City" it's better than "No Good Men". The novella especially is excellent.

Mike Brooks, Nate Crowley, Robert Rath, Matthew Ferrer, Edoardo Albert, Marc Collins are all worth your time. Pretty much all the new authors in the last 1-2 years have been excellent. The future is really bright. Oh and Adrian Tchaikovsky also just wrote a good genestealer book. He is already a successful sc-fi author outside of 40k. It's really surprising just how much great new talent BL has managed to find. All of those guys first books are excellent and if they keep improving we are going to have a lot more to add to the list with ADB/Wraight/Abnett in a few years.

Some other folks have mentioned Fehevari, but I'd really recommend him, especially if you like the horror aspects of the setting. He really goes hard with it, and its great. Tchaikovsky is just great in general, and if you want something less pulpy, I would happily recommend just about everyone his book, "Children of Time". It also has a sequel! Day of Ascension might not be my favorite of his books, but its still great. I also liked "The Oubliette" by J C Stearns and "The Bookkeeper's Skull" by Justin Hill. I'd gladly read more by them, as well.

And then afterwards read Twice-Dead King: Ruin (and its sequel) by Nate Croakley. Robert Rath's Assasinorum: Kingmaker also slaps.

Kind of wish I had skipped Vincula. Prequels always hit some traps because you are seeing guys at lower power level than usual but I didn’t really care for this newly seeded secret history of the Nalsheen.

So a friend of mine in Cali was at his local store and was able to buy two books that aren't released yet! I'm gonna be looking at my local store but if anybody manages to find a copy of Echoes of Eternity I will pay you drat good money on top of the purchase price for it. I NEED this book.

EoE isn't even due for a release until mid-September. How does a store even get a copy? I don't want to dodge spoilers all summer.

MonsterEnvy posted:I am interested in Godsbane which also does not have a solid release date. Godsbane is already out? I'm reading the ebook right now from Amazon. Good so far. This is actually the second copy of Echoes I have seen in the wild. Looks like its actually been finished for a while but not sure why they already sent it out to stores with a September release date and the LE not even announced yet. Maybe they'll move the release date up. I've also seen several other copies of the new Inferno! in the wild too. I got Huron a week early at my local Barnes and Noble and I've gotten an ebook two weeks before a release because of a fuckup on the Kobo Rakuten store.

Godsbane should be out in the wild because it went up for pre-order two weeks ago or something like that. You can get the hardback off the GW store.
|
# ? May 30, 2022 14:53 |
|
This is most likely related to the ongoing supply chain and logistics issues. GW is probably currently producing everything they can as soon as they can and then just packing everything together in the first available container. I assume their warehouse capacities in the US are quite limited, so it's cheaper to just ship the big box of books straight to stores and not split it out and store the unreleased products somewhere. Even with adequate storage facilities this would require them to later grab the unreleased items from storage and send it out again, thus increasing cost even more.

They are calling it a special edition instead of limited edition which means they are going to release at the same time instead of LE first. I wouldn't be surprised if this means the release date gets moved up since we know stores are already getting copies of the regular hardback.

HOLY gently caress My one and only dream has come true! An isometric 40k RPG from Owlcat, the makers of the Pathfinder RPGs which are extremely good, and it's called .... wait for it.... ROGUE TRADER Yes, that's right. An isometric 40k Rogue Trader RPG from a tried and true CRPG developer. I literally started hooting and hollering at my desk like a fool. So loving excited! Also go check out the Skulls Showcase. We got a lot of footage from announced games. They also announced another game that looks sweet as hell called Boltgun that is basically an old school doom clone where you're rippin' and tearin' as a space marine. gently caress yeah so excited.
