Hi everyone!

I wanted to share our plans for the 2.6.2 release today as we're nearing the final stages before going to Live!

2.6.2e-521264 is currently on PTU and is available to all players for testing. The Buccaneer has been made available for all PTU testers!
We've got a singular issue left that we are identifying where all pads are full. This is due to ships not being cleaned up as players leave the game.
A code build has just been completed and is now in internal QA testing.
Provided it passes, we will publish this update to PTU at approximately 3pm CDT/9pm GMT.
This is a Live candidate, so we expect to leave it up for a few hours. Players with fast internet and no bandwidth caps are encouraged to help us stress test!
Assuming this all checks out, we will then be publishing 2.6.2 to Live around 7pm CDT/1am GMT.
Shortly after the publish, we will announce sales information.

Stay tuned for more information! We appreciate everyone's help in getting 2.6.2 out the door; we're almost there!

On a related note, I saw some questions about how more players would participate with the long-awaited delta patcher system. We're hard at work on this and are happy to say we're reaching some very critical milestones!

For more information on the Turbulent side of the delta patcher, check out https://youtu.be/CPJK3KozJo4?t=955.

It is April in Australia where some of the Star Citizen servers are located. Even /r/sc agrees since they have already changed over to the April fools theme.

Star Citizen Newsletter - The Bucc Starts Here - 2.6.2 is Live!
March 31st, 2017

Greetings Citizen.
I recently returned to the Los Angeles studio after visiting the UK and Germany offices. Before I left, I was joined in Frankfurt by members of the production team from various studios to hold an overall project evaluation. Future sprints were planned and past sprints reviewed. It was a busy, yet exciting time as all the different offices collaborated simultaneously.

Of course, nothing is more exciting than 2.6.2 going live today! The Multi-Player Mega Map is finally in-game along with a host of other improvements and fixes. I want to again thank all the Evocati and PTU testers who submitted bugs over the past two weeks. Your time and dedication creates a better Star Citizen experience for everyone.

The most talked about addition in the 2.6.2 update is the Drake Buccaneer. Last month, we dedicated an ATV segment to the production of the Buccaneer, tracking it from concept to grey boxing. Part two of that feature premiered on yesterday’s ATV and followed the final stages in getting the Buccaneer flight ready. Both parts of the Ship Pipeline segment are packed with information and behind-the-scenes footage about the massively complicated pipeline that each of these ships take from idea to execution. If you haven’t seen it, you can find a link to yesterday’s ATV in the newsletter below. Also, if you’re a fan of Drake ships, we’re bringing them all back on sale this month. The Cutlass has a bit of a nefarious reputation in our lore, which may or may not be deserved, but we’ll dive into that a bit more in next week’s ATV.

the fact this dropped like an hour before midnight GMT makes me think getting it out before April was very deliberate.

seriously though, what company does a release on a Friday? A Friday evening, no less? That's a stupid and unnecessary risk considering all the things that could go wrong in a deployment done by a competent company, let alone CGI

(YouTube of the one time Chris played his game and barely knew how to use a computer, and didn't know what he was doing, and bashed his own developers for the dumb chat system he clearly never saw before. But rest assured since then he has been 110% playing his game non stop and programming it)

Oh is that right? Weird! I'm certainly no expert, but releasing software on Fridays has been a no-no at companies i've worked at because of the nightmare scenario of poo poo going bad while all the devs are away

I filtered my own posts because I remember making a similar comment before, and turns out I did - they announced the Lumberyard stuff on a Friday...the night before Christmas Eve, no less, lol

They just are confused because when CR goes on an all night long programming binge and solves all the problems other lesser coders have, his code phrase is "I'm going to get the Malaysian outsourcing group on this." But it's really just him being literally the best programmer on earth, redefining internet communications and serialization and also inventing subsumption AI. All things that other companies, not even game companies, will pay top dollar for.

It makes perfect sense if you're CIG. The company's primary goal is not to make a game - the company's primary goal is to steal money.

People get paid on Friday, so patches and updates release the same day, to wring maximum cash on that day and over the weekend with the illusion of progress.

Everything CIG does makes sense in the context of them being nothing more than a money-sucking scam.

What will it be? Radio silence? 2.6.3 schedule report? 2.7 maybe? A crippled 3.0 showing as being months away at best?

Have we ever considered they don't actually want to improve the patched? If you have to download the full "game" every time it discourages the majority of people to check every new patch out. If you could do that with only a 1 gbp of download imagine how much faster the majority of people would drop out when they see there are literally no changes between patches...
