I've got a weird-but-fun bug where one of my rangers ALWAYS has the second (throwing) axe, even when equipped with a ranger sword or the katana. It's usable in missions, too. But it's only one out of like five or six rangers.

I'm doing commander Ironman and got to the point where I killed my first chosen and the game is straight easy mode now, help. Any mods that can fix the later game challenge?

So when do the second and third chosen start rearing their heads? Is it when you expand to new regions or is it simply a progression of time.

I'm thinking the regions they show up in are randomized, because I've got bot the Assassin and Warlock on my rear end, and I haven't expanded out of North America yet.

They show up when you expand to a region they control/influence. Which can mean you won't seen more than one for a while, or it can mean the assholes are boxing in your starting region so you can't do any missions at all without the risk of one showing up. Guess which one happened to me!

Do the Chosen show up on timed missions? That would be hell! At the moment I've only had them show up twice on non-timed missions after my initial attack. I hope that's the norm.

IIRC, the access square is under a piece of furniture, which prevents you from getting to it. Carefully targeted explosives may or may not help.

I think hack objectives only have one accessible square, and judging by the way the laptop is pointing it's under that furniture. I happened to have 4 rangers ready to go for a first retaliation and wouldn't you know it the warlock was brittle.

Just fought two chosen in a row. The first one was the hunter during a advent raid which thankfully worked out okay as while he can heal after every turn and was immune to explosions, he is also brittle so I was able to one round him after slowly chewing my way towards him. The second one was the assassin during the first black site mission which turned into a turkey shoot. So on top of a building I wiped out two separate pods of advent and an almost entire lost horde when the final lost revealed her position before being killed by my overwatch. Thanks to her having the grounded weakness it was quite easy to butcher her as well.

Anyone having issues sending soldiers on the "Improve Combat Intelligence" covert op? I have a Templar and a Skirmisher at full will and neither of them are valid picks for the op.

Very rarely when an enemy pod activates on the enemy turn one of them gets to take a shot. Any idea what exactly causes this? Is it if they have your soldier flanked or something?

Commander campaign is done. Solid as gently caress. Went into the final mission with a Templar and two PsiOps who breezed through everything. Turns out because the mission automatically forces you to start Phase 2 once the regular alien pods are killed, means you lose whatever mind controlled aliens you had. Now that the weapon mods are up and running, time to Legendary/Ironman this poo poo... We need a 'gun held high above head' pose ASAP.

Leyburn posted:Very rarely when an enemy pod activates on the enemy turn one of them gets to take a shot. Any idea what exactly causes this? Is it if they have your soldier flanked or something? Yeah, its designed to counter people conga-lining their dudes without cover and putting them in overwatch so they'd get 2 turns against patrolling enemies. If they patrol into flanked people they might take a shot instead of scattering.

The new type of retaliation can get PRETTY nasty. If you aren't moving fast enough, more and more enemies will start murdering civilians instead of doing it 1/turn, to the point of completely ignoring your troops, even if they're out of cover. I almost hope Chosen do show up during it because it seems to reduce the amount of pods you have to fight, and they're usually more interested in you than murdering civvies.

Leyburn posted:Very rarely when an enemy pod activates on the enemy turn one of them gets to take a shot. Any idea what exactly causes this? Is it if they have your soldier flanked or something? It's important to note, this only happens if you get flanked on an activation while concealed. If they flank you and you're not in concealment they won't shoot, meaning that old school overwatch conga lines still work if you have unlimited time, so long as your team has already engaged one pod.

Playing on PS4 so can't get a mod, but I'd like it if having aliens revealed by a concealed ranger/reaper also revealed the tiles where unconcealed soldiers will be spotted by them.
