I will probably pick it up anyway but I wanted to know: Is there any difference between Talos Effect VR and the non-VR version? I already played through the base game, though I haven't completed the DLC yet.

I stupidly forgot to buy Talos VR when it was on sale last week for ¥1000 (75% off). I instead bought the Croteam VR bundle today for 92% off, paying ¥1600 for Talos VR and four additional games I am unlikely to ever play. (But 92% discount is too good to pass up. ). Now if I can get ALVR set up and running smoothly, this will be perfect. By the way, I discovered last night that my Quest will mirror to my phone without a problem. This suggests that mirroring to my computer, in the same room and on the same wireless network, should be nowhere near as awful as it was last time I tried. Perhaps the solution is to download Bluestacks and try convincing the Quest that my PC is an Android device.

Serious Sam is as ridiculous as ever, and the huge enemies are neat in VR. Supports multiplayer with 2D people, too.

It is a freaking pain. Games order controllers by first and second connected, so often you get a case where it things the feet are hands. This happens even after I used natural locomotion to "convert" them into tracking pucks. I didn't have wireless and the jog in place + wire + turning + constant controller issues really made it too much. I only tried it a few time because it really was a pain. Natural locomotion with arm swinging seemed like it worked better. Don't forget you also need to order 2 extra stream controller dongles and flash them.

Yeah I have a haswell i can overclock to hell and back. 1, i have it water cooled, 2, i don't care if i run it down now, i'm buying a new pc later this year. It'll do for now with most VR games, and then I can play elite when ryzen 3 lands.

Which is the other gotcha; poor AMD motherboard compatibility. The Wireless Kit originally gave consistent BSODs on the vast majority of Ryzen machines, something to do with how the PCIe bus is set up. Apparently the driver has been patched to help fix it, but I haven't read any accounts of how well that patch actually worked.

That hopefully won't be a problem with the new mobos but some X470's are still problematic and require you to set custom IRQ's in the bios. Thankfully most of the motherboards it does impact still have the option to set a custom IRQ, even X370 boards. Some accurate greybeard bullshit going on here, agreed. Last time I hosed around with IRQ was getting a sound blaster 16 working with doom 2 in DOS, on my buddy's P/S2 486, because my actual Packard Bell 386 SX 25mhz didn't have a sound card. Circa 1993 I think.
