I think the chip on my shoulder at 3am was something along the lines of: she lost bad, her network lost bad, everything she built collapsed and failed in November. Her name should be toxic, and I'm just having a hard time understanding how there are still people rallying around her.

But man, I get really moody when I miss my nap I guess.:corsair:

Since I guess I was the only one who listened to Marshall's porn chat with Keith, I'll summarize a bit:

First 15 minutes are the usual stuff, his record, the election, Bernie, etc. After that they get into a bit of specifics. Keith essentially wants to replicate the strategy of his congressional district, which emphasizes turnout via off year canvassing and maintaining a cooperative campaign structure. The infrastructure of the DNC has atrophied, he says, focusing solely on presidential races rather than being a big tent for the rank and file. He says they spend too much on tv advertising, which research shows generally dissuade people from voting rather than encouraging them to vote. This is a problem for a party with turnout issues. He ties the divide between the economic and social issues to the funding issue, stating that for the hedge fund manager or w/e big Dem donor that a $15 min. wage is a nice thing, but not their first priority. To the economically depressed, it is. This creates the disconnect between the well heeled but not shitbag donors versus the rank and file. Focusing on the little guy will allow you to compensate for the disinterest of the big guy. $27 bucks, etc. The only thing he didn't have a great answer to was the smear stuff a la Farrakhan, but an implied thing was that the focus on the economic message will outshine poor optics. I forget who he was quoting, but to paraphrase, "Republicans don't win in the South, we make the other guys look worse." Dunno if that's right or not.

I don't like her either, so I get where you're coming from.

Whether you like it or not, Clintons have friends in high places and you know, one was actually a loving president, that poo poo doesn't like just go away because abuela lost *coughs*twice*coughs* unfortunately.

They don't care as long as they can brand it and sell it now and we wont fight back because...realistically you can only galvanize people if its in their self-interest and their liberty is literally at stake, what we have is the biggest ennui of our generation because we're inundated by our first world comforts, and this is the internet~ where we bicker about idpol or whatever dumbshit where it doesn't apply to reality like at all, because it's a bunch of perspectives behind a keyboard and it fragments every single thing that's actually going on. It's a really weird line to explain because you will never really understand unless you were an immigrant or have traveled outside of the US. We're in a bubble where our worst problems are typos, a missed appointment, misplaced keys, that cashier can't break your 100 because he only carries 5s, someone blocked you on twitter. Instead of like you know, war, famine and death~ Those are such far away problems that its surreal, and we make ourselves feel better with spending power with the idea that we chose to support the faux activism's gofundme page.

Also uhh, their network has money and money makes the world go round. You want to support the downtickets, people won't do a drat thing unless there's money :capitalism:

I get and like Bernie's message, there are people who are going to try and stop that because "let's be realistic" is an excuse, and don't like change, especially if they're at the top and have made it out of the bottom while stepping on your necks to get there. It's okay to be idealistic as long as you have reasonable goals, it's something that should be striven towards, even if it's impossible. What you won't get with pendants is that they'll go "uh, but thats not feasible" because they completely miss the point, thats what they do. They look for the tiny thing and go, well actually.

It's the same idea as striving for perfection. You know it's impossible, but you can get close to it, as best as you can get to it because if we have the ability to do it, it's irresponsible to squander it. And we really are squandering it because there is no clear message. What do you really want to strive for here? Eat the rich, full communism now sounds very packaged at this point, I could sell that on a loving t-shirt since you're spouting it memetically, but are you really doing anything about it?

Believe it or not, Bernie was actually selling that idea too because we're trapped in this system.

I'd like to strive for a frosty and your large fries please, I have a hankering for dipping my fries in them.

Lamestream lightweights are still blaming Bernie for Abuela's loss

http://www.npr.org/2017/01/06/508385203/bernie-sanders-says-trump-won-because-democrats-are-out-of-touch

quote:

Some have blamed Sanders, in part, however for Clinton's loss. Young voters were drawn to his campaign, but many chose a third-party candidate in the general election. Although Sanders campaigned for Clinton, at times he had a hard time voicing full-throated support for her.

The kind of harsh criticism he leveled of Clinton on her Wall Street speeches and decrying her as part of the status quo, rather than building up her beliefs and policies (that certainly stand in stark contrast to Donald Trump) has irked party loyalists.

That's especially true, considering that although Sanders ran in the Democratic primary and caucuses with Democrats, he has declined to put the "D" next to his name. He is back in the Senate as an independent.

Despite going to multiple campaign stops for Hillary and saying he would vote for her November, Bernie didn't do enough to voice support for Hillary

Bernie endorsed Hillary at the DNC, saying she was the the more qualified, progressive than Big Don.

However after her failed campaign bid, her gang of very sad supporters did everything in their power to shift the blame away from Hillary and her very incompetent campaign team.
