Yeah but I'm guessing many of those flyover states would have joined the Confederacy. At the very least they could have run things the way they want and not dragged down the rest of the country like they're doing now.

Although, to be fair, Reagan had been in the political limelight for almost 20 years by the time he was elected president, so its kind of dumb to say it was all due to his role in a bunch of b-movies.

Yeah, the division in American politics is nowhere near as geographically clean as we like to pretend. State level election maps really don't paint an accurate picture at all.

Why isn't the press boycotting these press briefings? Are the media really this spineless? I mean, the White House press corps has always been useless, but this seems beyond the pale.

So what, at least then you've made a stand. Accepting their ridiculous terms seems even more damaging. Spicey Boy/Sanders not answering any questions and saying that they'll get back to them on that isn't helping anyone.

If anything, it legitimizes this White House. While it's funny to see, the press secretary dodging worthless softballs like "does the president believe in climate change" isn't going to galvanize political opposition. They'll just keep dodging if nothing changes. They still have the Press Corps doing the work, getting Donnies message out there.

Boycotting the meetings as long as they keep up this ridiculous "no recording" stance doesn't seem like the worst thing. And so far, "pressuring" them hasn't actually worked in any way. Probably because its the White House Press Corps. All it does is let the administration set the tone and agenda for press coverage.

There is something eyebrow raising about her "we're capitalists and that's just the way it is!" quote, but that's for the voters of her district to decide. I'm sure if the party somehow start pushing socialist policy, she'd probably be willing to go along with the tide.

It's kind of a moot point, because we are a capitalist country for the foreseeable future. Still, no need to be happy about it and use it as an excuse from doing things.

Exactly. Scapegoating Pelosi ignores that Ossoff did his best to keep anyone from knowing he was actually a Democrat. It ignores the fact that those four districts were in areas EXTREMELY hostile to Democrats.

And through it all, we forget that if the Tea Party had given up after losing a bunch of close ballgames at the beginning, we wouldn't be having this conversation because Democrats would still be in power. It sucks to lose, yes, but throwing up our hands and going "can't win cause of the system, maaaaaaan" isn't the answer.
