I know this is an old thread, but I can't remember the name of a game! It is an old racing game where you flew flying car type of things and one of the tracks looked like it was in egypt or something. The flying car racing is what I remember the most. Also, it was in 3d, not 2d.

Old 2D platformer that came with an IBM computer about 12 years ago. If I remember correctly, the main character was a boy and I think the title screen had the boy on a bird... It was very difficult (at the time, maybe I just sucked back then) and I cant really remember more...

Also, give us a more specific time frame if you can, even if all you can do is narrow it down to a decade.

OKay, so mine was for the NES and it was a sports game. It had lots of different "events", but the one that stands out the best to me was a shotput one where you had to hit the NES buttons alternating really fast to make him throw farther. Also part of it was a neutral area that wasn't competition based where you could go and get energy drinks or something for your little athlete person. That's all I've got.

Here's what I remember about it: in the opening there is a cutscene (which I think was a video) where you're being dropped off by a helicopter into a complex outside of a sealed dome(?) covering part of a city. The rest of the city is in ruins due to some kind of apocalyptic event but apparently the dome is a paradise or whatever and you need to get into it for some reason I don't remember. I'm pretty sure this one was Take No Prisoners. http://pc.ign.com/objects/003/003393.html

Okay, here's one. I post this in every single one of these threads and I've yet to get a response for it; I often get replies suggesting games like Cybernator which, while decent, are not what I'm looking for. Here's the deal: I'm looking for a SNES mech action game, don't remember if it's early or late gen, where you have multiple characters (one of which is a quadrupedal lion robot or something and the others are more conventional humanoid mechs) and your characters level up as you fight with them. There was a lot of this leveling up and more exploration to be done than a typical action game, but I'd refrain from calling it a true adventure game because it didn't have a Metroid-style map layout (it had actual levels) nor do I remember any real kind of inventory system. It felt like something Enix might make, like EVO. Anybody? I remember it being a pretty awesome game, and it's almost like I totally made it up.

The vaguest memory of a game just came to me as I read through this thread. It was on the old Amstrad with a tape deck and came on an Amstrad Power (I think that was the magazine) tape. In any case what I can remember of this game was that the main character had a jetpack he flew around in typical 2d side scrolling style. What makes it stand out is that I seem to remember the levels were made out of this weird organic looking substance, the enemies seemed to be made out of the same thing. This game was also on the cover of the magazine the demo tape came on so maybe it was a big deal at the time?

If you guys could help me with this i'd love you for loving EVER. It was one of those standup arcade machines where it was a top down driver game, it had a steering wheel and two pedals, and you had to chase down bad guys and then once you caught them you gotta "interrogate" them by button mashing like a manic. It was awesome, and i'd love to find out what it was to play it again.

Maybe somone can help me with this one.. I remember playing this game 4-9 years ago or so. It was a sort of gladiator game where you chose your gladiator (I think..) and equipped him with weapons and then put him into a fight. The fight was calculated automatically taking into account your fighter`s skills. I cannot rememeber if you could bet money on him or not. The game seemed pretty much low budget and simple. And I cant for the life of me remember the name of the game. This is for the pc of course.

This one was a freeware game I "played" a couple years back. The game was basically just an RNG with a bunch of silly add-ons. It kept track of a bunch of silly stats - everything from the standard RPG stats to "Cleanliness", "Ugliness", and the like. The entirety of the game's actual gameplay involved clicking a button in the middle of the GUI which would "make something happen", altering your characters stats. If I remember correctly, after a certain number of clicks you had the option to stop playing; otherwise you'd just continue on forever.

There was a game I was playing last year. It was free off internet, for PC, and you could download any song off your computer and the game would make a roller coaster out of the song. You would then fly a spaceship along the roller coaster, and collect colored blocks at the same tempo as the music. Any Ideas?

You're thinking of the excellent game Audiosurf, now available on Steam for a nominal fee ($9.99) E: Whoops - I can make links, I promise! Seriously though - go download Steam (Valve's digital distribution platform) and buy it! You won't find it as freeware anymore, but it's definitely worth the ten bucks. a tea tree fucked around with this message at 00:46 on Sep 16, 2008 |

I'm trying to find a game from the DOS or early Windows era, although I was pretty young at the time so I'm not entirely sure. I remember playing it at my father's office along with Raiden: Call of the Shadows and Privateer. It was a sort of hybrid point-and-click adventure and fps shooter (navigation similar to Myst, but there were enemies that you could shoot). You started off in a lunar military base and you learn that the Earth has been invaded by aliens. The aliens are controlling the population using ultrasonic waves or something broadcast from their ships. You poke around the base, attend briefings, talk to people, eat, sleep, suit up, and go down to the planet to explore and kick rear end. I remember you get a tank at some point, but I never made it far through the game so I don't know much beyond that. If anyone can help me with this I would be forever grateful. I've been trying to remember the name for years now. [edit] It might not have been point-and-click, but movement was definitely restricted (everything took place in linear corridors with 90º junctions and the enemies simply started around a corner at the far end of the hallway and came toward you. The environments may have actually been 3d. Oneiros fucked around with this message at 00:51 on Sep 16, 2008 |

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking "Top Gun". I didn't even look it up but I seem to remember it had an obnoxiously tough landing sequence on the carriers, which was way past my skill level for a long time since I must have been like, 11 or 12 or something and I really didn't get the grasp of gravity and acceleration coming into play. Thought of another game I played when I was a kid. It was a game on the NES where you controlled a three legged mech. Think ED-209 but with three legs. It was a side scrolling action game where you ran around in the mech murdering everything in your way until the end of the level. The cool part? At any time you could get out of the mech and fight as a little soldier. I think if your mech blew up you would always eject as the soldier and keep fighting. Really cool game at the time. Totally can't remember the name. Any ideas?

Another one from years ago, I musty have been less than ten so my memory could be off on some parts. It was a 2D side scrolling platform game, I think the combat was swords or melee based, it was pretty basic anyway. The bit I remember is that you collected potions: red, green, blue and yellow. There was a screen you could bring up and mix the potions together and different combinations did different things. At the time it seemed cool and random but I expect it was actually fixed depending on what you mixed. I think this was on the Amiga (500/600).

This one's been bugging me for years. I remember playing this platforming game on my friend's Macintosh computer in the early 90's. It had somewhat simple EGA graphics and the main character was a rockabilly dude who threw bowling balls at enemies. I remember us calling it 'Billy Goes Bowling' or something like that, but we were probably just being retarded kids because googling that ain't helping. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
