Six months ago there were three kmarts within 5 miles of where I live. two nice Super Kmarts that were recently built and actually nice stores, and one lovely regular kmart that's been there since probably the 70's. They just closed two of these three stores. guess which store is still open?

The one with the lowest paid staff? The one that got a 99-year lease in the 70's?

Yes but if you have a flat and didn't buy your tires at Costco then Sears is probably the only one around who is open to patch it. And that summarizes the last time I've been at a Sears in the past 10 years

This is a good tip. My dad likes Discount Tire for some reason, though, I think he was looking for a specific tread.

Are you 110% sure they are the same tire?

But now that they've cut the costs of the other two staffs and consolidated their customer base to one store, they can afford to upgrade it to a beautiful, new Super ahahaha j/k. It's going to rot for another decade.

Yeah, paying $45,000 x 2 a month or $1,000 a month for lease is a hard choice.

I put in an actually good idea and I'm probably not going to win because they claim they're already trying it out. To submit your idea you have to use this social networking thing called Pebble that you can only access while on the clock at work. It's also terribly structured and absolutely ridiculous to try to navigate if you're not on a tablet. They had an idea to speed up the checkout process by giving everyone iPads and letting the employees run around with the iPad and check people out. I'm not entirely sure how that would work but they never did it. The registers also run on an old version of Unix and they're trying to make us utilize the touch screens but it just makes things slower and more of a pain in the rear end.

Depends on whether they were looking at replacing their 20 year old unix terminals anyway. Getting last years ipad wouldnt be so bad in that case compared to the alternative.

Somebody said K-Mart pays employees if they provide a way to save money. My idea is to cut all electricity to the store and fire all the staff. Customers can use a flashlight to see where they are going and a K-Mart app on their phone to scan and pay for items. All items are in a giant pile so customers may need to dig through it for hours, increasing the amount of impulse buys and rope to drag them out when the pile falls on them.

KMart had a warehouse in my hometown. About 20 years ago the warehouse thought it would be a good idea to hire undercover investigators, have them pose as employees, become friends with the workers, and to give management detailed reports about the workers family lives, family issues, sex lives, and any/all statements they made about their bosses.

bonus incentive: looting items off of the corpses that are buried in the pile. You never know what you'll find!

Yeah, I think I found this out in the last Kmart thread, and I definitely won't be buying Craftsman anymore. I think they do have a Pro series or something that still is made in the US, but I'll still be going with someone else next time I need something. I can't justify spending Snap-On money, but there are a few decent US manufacturers at a more affordable price point.

The Posegos submitted handwritten reports to CIC by mail every few days. These reports were then forwarded to defendant. Which is weird because I think the Chinese Craftsman ratchets are miles above the last few years of the American-made ones. You wanna talk about sloppy action and slippage resulting in bloody knuckles? Those were the last few years of the American-made Craftsman ratchets. The new Chinese ratchets are pretty tits and seem to have better QC then when Danaher was making them. At least the ratchets are better; I can't speak for the rest of the tool line.

That still doesn't give me incentive to go out and buy a new ratchet since I've got enough already. When I think of Craftsman, I've got the old fart mentality of "good American-made tools at a reasonable price with an awesome warranty," not "Chinese-made tools of questionable quality at high prices with a warranty you may or may not get depending on who's manning the register and how much of a dick they are."

They've got to be at least better than Harbor Freight tools. You just look at those things funny and they break.
