Even in a full communism now utopian society, having a number of jet planes available for skilled pilots to use for leisure should not only be allowed, but encouraged. Carbon Footprint for a single jet that is used daily for leisure is still much much less then the carbon footprint of everyone having a personal car and commuting daily.

to be fair, the car-dependent hog is a universal western phenomenon, here in Finland recently a bunch drove past parliament beeping their horns to protest "the government punishing motorists" with like gas taxes and ??? in the most limp-dicked demonstration imaginable it's amazing how at least every other car owner wants to be able to drive absolutely everywhere so that it's cheap, fast and convinient and is incapable of understanding that it's physically impossible

Also, greater Helsinki's transit system is pretty good at least. You can't really escape car culture, but I don't think it has busted anyone's brains as much as the US. The pervasiveness of cars is the sole enabler of Suburbia and Suburbia naturally creates an insular culture of selfishness by making it physically difficult to interact with other humans and form "communities" in the sociological sense. Everyone is literally separated from each other by massive property lots and all social spaces are removed from residential areas. There are no common shared areas and everyone is taught to treat his/her property as a fortress under siege that others must not be allowed to so much as walk through. The Suburbs are quite literally soul destroying. This was in fact a feature and not a bug, as Suburbia was encouraged specifically in order to trick a portion of the lower classes into thinking they were "self-reliant homesteaders" who mistakenly think they share class interests with the 1%.

I loved not having a car when we lived someplace that was possible, but I want to live in a cabin in the woods and it would be difficult to not have a car here given a roughly hour walk each direction to get milk, two hours for a doctor. I think there is a bus that covers that second hour, part of the day some days. a collectively owned self driving EV fleet could probably reduce the number of vehicles out here by like 90% though. Everyone up here has 1 to n vehicles and most sit unused at any given time just like in cities, just with more rusty giant trucks and angry cut piped dirt bikes. Most giant trucks I see are moving people and empty beds in the majority of cases.
