What are some good games to pick up with the adapter+game gear set? I have Devilish, Aladdin and the Lion King on the way but nothing to take advantage of the other add ons.

I’m looking to pick up Pinball Dreams for GG but I kinda want a CIB copy for the shelf. If anyone has a lead on one, I’m all ears.

Edit: I like horror too.

The Jurassic Park games on Game Gear are my favorite JP games. Also Fatal Fury Special is great, but that one is kind of pricey I think.

I like Sonic Triple Trouble since it doesn’t have a better Master System equivalent like most of the 8bit Sonics. Probably my most played GG game back in the day.

Arena: Maze of Death is a unique and fun Game Gear game that came out in 199-fuckin-6. Worth playing.

These were the bangers I played the most. Then again I had the Master System adapter so I played alot of those too on my GG.

I almost took my Pocket to the beach coast this last weekend, but I figured (correctly) I’d be driving both ways. I’m another year older and I still haven’t finished Mother 3. I also still haven’t opened my second analogue pocket (clear red). I’m slacking.

I got stuck in an attic and can't beat a guitar.

I bought a BeefyGrip Pro, and now I can actually use my Pocket for more than 30 minutes without my hands cramping up! Unfortunately, with the grip attached, it no longer fits in the case I was using. Does anyone have a recommendation for a soft case that will snugly hold the Pocket + grip?

Speaking of that though, since my comically tiny hands don't need a grip attachment that $1 aliexpress case from earlier in the thread has been treating me with excellence.

China is insane. That $1 included shipping.

I'd have bought a cable or two, maybe the plastic box, but they want $43 shipping even for a single $20 loving cable to Canada. So irritating.

Their shipping is definitely absurd. It’s not that bad in the US but still pretty bad.

I have to admit, I love this thing but I was pretty nonplussed when it arrived without a simple motherfucking power brick.

Did it not come with one? I thought mine did but maybe it came with the dock. So you see, a power brick is only $100.

Hahaha, yeah, nah, I didn't get it with a dock, so it just came with a USB-C cable.

It's honestly probably for the best, supposedly the ones they were including were pretty cheap.

Question: I just got a Pocket (limited edition clear red, thanks SA-Mart!), and I can't figure out where to put NeoGeo Pocket/Color games.

I see the folder for assorted systems, including "ng" which is I assume the Neo Geo, but I don't see a "ngpc" folder.

You put the physical cartridge in the adapter you can only buy as part of an overpriced set, because there is no "jailbreak" openFPGA core for the system yet. Jotego is working on one but it's in beta and you have to subscribe to their patreon for access.

Huh.

Funnily enough I actually have some NGPC carts, and a working NGPC. I was just hoping to try them on the OLED lol.

Game Gear games look amazing.

Honestly there’s only two Patreons I’ve ever subscribed to and Jotego’s is worth the money big time. Especially if you have one of these things.

So, I just joined the patreon, but I can't actually find where the cores are located. The Neo Geo Pocket post just says "the first beta core for NeoGeo Pocket is available for MiSTer and Analogue Pocket in the usual locations."

It also mentions a "key", but also doesn't say where that is...

Never mind, found the files.

Now I just need to know where to put the key. The beta key ZIP just has a single ".bin" file and no instructions :v:

Your updater should grab the cores. The key is a zip file called "jtbeta.zip". On the pocket you put it on the root of your sdcard or in mister you put it in /media/fat/roms/mame

Don't unzip the key. Then run your updater and your cores will work. You'll want to enable the jotego beta cores in whatever updater you use.

Gotcha, thanks!

That patreon is surprisingly poorly documented for how long the posts are lol.

Question: Is the Pocket "Library" feature supposed to have images for the entries? When I load a cart (GBA, GBC, etc) an entry appears in the Library, and it has a square next to it that looks like it should have a screenshot or something, but there's nothing there. I downloaded some "asset image packs" using Pocket Updater, but I'm not sure if that's what they're for.

E: its also not clear if this is a NeoGeoPocket core, or a NeoGeoPocket Color core. I'd have assumed color, because why wouldn't you emulate the Color, which can play regular NGP games, but then his post says to go look at this list of NGPC games that run on the NGP.

It's been a while since I turned mine on but I think that only shows a picture if you have memories for the cartridge. Try making a savestate.
