I love vinyl even if I don't listen to my collection often enough. It definitely is the tangibility and the imperfection. And yeah, anyone who says digital is bad is full of poo poo because above the nyquist rate, you literally cannot tell the difference. Audiophile poo poo is extra hilarious when you're an EE.

This is exactly it, I just heckin enjoy having physical vinyl from my favorite artists, or picking up stuff at shows and getting it signed. I find tremendous enjoyment in putting a record or artist I enjoy on the turntable and listening to the entire album, theres no other format I do that in these days. Plus all these new releases and stuff have awesome handmade spatter which qualifies as art imho. Someone had to roll the hot vinyl blob in colored pellets, so each one is 100% unique.

Art is how we decorate space, and music is how we decorate time. Vinyl is the bridge between the two.

The ultimate bridge is this dude, which I have one of his records. Its so cool seeing a physical groove be transferred to electro magnetic oscillations, amplified, and then piped through an oscilloscope where the impulses take literal shape into visual art before being piped to speakers for acoustic art.

I think this is a neat way to remember a trip, albeit I'd skip an entire suitcase worth of vinyl. The Mrs and I usually get records in the places we travel to, esp. if there's some kind of connection between the artist and the place. Yes, it's probably a massive cliche to get Bowie's "Heroes" while visiting Berlin, but... who cares?

Right now I have 2 SR series with active humbuckers, so I wanted something different. Those blacksmithing classes sound really neat! What will you guys be making?

Fire poker and letter opener. The first class we took at the beginning of the month was makin a barn hook. My guess is the fire poker will be similar mechanics to the barn hook but bigger. Letter opener is basically babby's first knife. There's a handful of actual knife making and axe making classes that I'm really jazzed to do, but class sizes are limited for rona reasons, so filled up before I could get in. They might bump the class size up later in the month though cause yeah, 5G coverage is getting better and cases are down.

I'm seriously restraining myself right now from setting up a home forge. I really want to do it, but forging is inherently dangerous, so doing a ton of research on stuff before I start throwin money at it.

Huh. As someone who already was into biking, they seemed pretty in line with new bike prices. I bought an ebike a couple of years ago. As an alternative to a car for a daily commute, it is awesome. But only if you have a secure place to put it on both ends of the commute.
As a complete car replacement, it falls short in cargo and passenger capacity as well as having increased danger of theft at most destinations. I've considered using mine for grocery runs, but I'm just too paranoid that it would be stolen or vandalized in the short time I'm in the store.

That said, I love it. It's very fun to ride.

I saw somebody riding an ebike while I walked to and from the store yesterday, I had no idea what they were so thanks for the info. Also, they didn't scream at me or fall over or plow into me for daring to walk on the sidewalk, but instead slowed down, passed me, and gave me a friendly salute, so they're already way better than regular bikes.
