Coming into this season Tua was 8-8 against teams over .500. Removing the Bills who he can’t beat to save his life, he would be 7-3 (not counting the game he threw 3 passes agains the Bills).

So basically, he can’t beat the Bills or the two best teams in the league this season.

Whenever you see mcmagic talk about a player or team just remember that the opinions being expressed are based off the worst game or play they were involved in and since that thing happened, there is no possible way said team or player is good

I’m not a Kirk hater. I think he’s better than Tua. Tua is younger and has room to grow.

Forget the stats. I think Tua is a top 10 QB who sometimes looks like a top 5. Like the jets are supposed to be this defense that embarrasses elite QBs and Tua had two awful interceptions and otherwise looked fine? Good? I've seen games where he had four passes worse than those two but he got lucky on those and this time he didn't. It happens. Maybe we'll play those good teams later in the season and he'll look like a dud and you can say he's a fraud or whatever but he's clearly not Zach Wilson or deshaun Watson or zeppo marx so why wouldn't dolphins fans be pretty happy about him?

Tua is pretty good. He's not dogshit and he's not great. He's perfectly acceptable, and Dolfans should be happy about how he's developed. I still wouldn't want to pay him $50 million a year though.

If you’re asking if I’ll take Kirk Cousins who is maybe OVER confident but will never throw for 6 yards on 4th and 13 the answer is yes.

He turns the ball over too much and is not great at improvising but he’s easily the most fun QB the Dolphins have had to watch since I became an adult.

If he could just stop having 3 awful brain farts a game he’d be really good, imo.

Literally every time I see Tua play his throws have less on them. He has the worst throwing arm of NFL QBs and it's not remotely close. He can throw to wide open WR's in perfect conditions and if they can run under his floating ducks and throw it within 5 yards of the LOS pretty well but he's incredibly limited and if you don't see that when you watch him play you're lying to yourself.

This is completely fair. The Dolphins really have no other choice though and I think most reasonable Dolfans (who don’t think Skylar should be starting) are ok with it, though I understand why Bills and Jets fans would also be fine with it.

Yeah how many jets fans would have salivated over trading for Kirk cousins just a couple weeks ago lol

Not looking forward to paying Tua with his health history but also what the gently caress are you gonna do, trade for some 40 year old guy? At least Tua isnt Daniel Jones level. And I think Tua does respond well to coaching and would benefit from an actual line and some cleaner playcalling. It's not like you look at the offense and think it's peaked with him when there's still so many glaring issues

He’s a good enough QB to get the ball reliably to his excellent skill players and it’s shocking how many qbs can’t even do that

I agree with the three posts above me and I’m a little bit more worried about sus playcalling than Tua atm.

Edit: I saw what the Dolphins looked like in games without him last season and it’s cope to pretend he doesn’t make a positive impact.

I think you take Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Stroud, and Jackson over Tua without debate.

Then I think you can place him reasonably anywhere in the Lawrence, Purdy, Prescott, Cousins, Goff, Stafford grouping and be good. I'd personally probably put him ahead of all of those except Purdy and maybe Prescott.

Sorry.

I'm just now getting caught up on NY Jets football history after never having a reason to bother since I came out of the womb. One of my earliest memories of discovering football was seeing grainy footage of some dude named Joe Namath. I'm probably one of the only people posting here who ever saw him play.

And I honestly didn't realize until recently that Joe was as good as it ever got.

Tua's good and easily top 10. But it's another situation in which everything has gone right for him. Firing Flores, bringing in McDaniel, getting Hill. Much the same as Hurts & Mahomes in which it's easy to see them going anywhere else and failing.

Hurts is the one I’m really still doubting which tier he’s in purely bc he’s surrounded by insane talent and still looks inconsistent as gently caress most of the time. He’s got the best o-line in football too. Idk I think he’s probably closer to that 2nd tier but I’m a hater.

Otherwise yea pretty much agreed. I actually like Tua better than Prescott but not with his injury issues.
