It is at least partly about the scandals, but not because there's any substance to them. Fling enough poo poo around, and your target starts to smell whether you hit them or not. My mother doesn't like her, for instance, despite being part of the demographic (white liberal woman, close to Hillary's age) that should be sewn up already. And why? The only policy difference she cites is that vote on the Iraq war. She'll still vote for Hillary if she's the nominee because the alternative is worse, but even so that aura of impropriety is still hovering around. I do think Sanders' entry in the race makes people more willing to voice their dissatisfaction with her, well-founded or otherwise.
