I think Kodak Black's output in 2017 was waaay underrated. All three projects he released last year were full of great songs. I promise you that repeated listens to this poo poo will pay off, it's extremely good and no one talks about it. I think Painting Pictures was his best thing by a long shot. Never really got into any of his other tapes. That one he put out for Valentine's Day was awful

I like Kodak a lot, one of my favorite new school rappere, but I think 2017 and 2018 have not been great years for him. Ignoring all the legal trouble and poo poo, his stuff has noticeably worse rhymes now (I’m pretty sure he stopped writing or something) and he sounds like he’s gone way overboard on lean. I think if you consider all the good songs on Project Baby 2 it's his best project. The RHQ album reminds me how much trap/rap fuckin sucks at making comprehensive albums. It also reinforces my feeling that “feature creep” is a huuuge problem. I loving hate most studio albums at this point since it’s typically just feature after feature. Thanks for the rec, rap thread! Happy Easter to y’all motherfuckers. Jesus. I can’t make it past “No No No,” the chorus reflects a lot of poo poo I’ve been through. I was on the flight home thinking about how far I’ve come and the lows I made it through and I shed tears, no April Fool’s. I’ve been looking for an album to obsess about it, rather than just a bunch of SoundCloud and trap singles. I really hope people gently caress w this album, Quan earned it.

New Weeknd owns but it doesn't really bang. It will be interesting to see what direction the guy goes for his next album. After 4 discs of "Your girl is mine til I go back on tour" and then gradually coming out into the spotlight to embrace pop stardom, he loses his girl to Bieber of all people and proceeds to drop Echoes 1.5.
