I didn't see any build info so maybe he managed 4wd or something but even so.

I suspect that's an 1/8th mile track, putting that 10 second time around a high 15 or low 16 second run in the 1/4 mile; still impressive for what it is. The speed is probably blinking because an error occurred as there is no way he was doing 220 mph or kph.

It still bothers me that they have to do that for the program E: I'm willing to bet they forgot to drain out the oil before putting in the silicate. MonkeyNutZ fucked around with this message at 04:39 on Sep 6, 2009 |

ab0z posted:I guess I don't understand welding enough to know what's going on there. Severely interesting attempts at welding with line voltage and no real ground. If you're using a normal welder with two leads, you're just about completely safe. You can touch what you're welding and no harm becomes you. To weld like they show in that video, you have to set the metal on the ground to literally ground it. It's brutally unsafe, and while it can work, if something were to go wrong, you're just simply hosed.

Ziploc posted:Why don't they just disassemble it? Jesus Christ I can feel my mind melting. Time. Takes ~10 minutes or less to destroy an engine with sodium silicate, and then the engine is pretty much junk without a complete rebuild (which may not be enough anyways). It'll take a LOT more time to disassemble an engine and render it unusable by mechanical means than just dumping a chemical in the engine oil and waiting a few minutes. Time is money, and the intention of the program was to take these cars permanently off the road.
