comedyblissoption posted:the optimistic hope is that the fundamental democratic arrangement of worker co-ops is so appealing to people that a traditional corporate hierarchy actively repels workers My feeling is that the only way to create long-term positive change is to somehow bring up an entire generation with socialist ideology and enforce the teaching of said ideology in the future. This may sound kinda dystopian or something, and in a way it is, but I feel like it's the only way to avoid the inevitable problem of "once people become more comfortable and economically secure, they will inevitably start to support dismantling social programs." There needs to be something in place ensuring that socialism is treated as the "common sense" view and capitalism remains demonized in the same way socialism was during the mid to late 20th century.

So your "solution" is to create something like the purge where rich people get to hunt poor people for sport after crafting a Deer Blind but for poor people? A better idea is to just create a system of progressive taxation so that the individual poor person, who certainly doesn't have the resources to actually steal from a rich person's fortress, will have the government work on their behalf. ate shit on live tv has issued a correction as of 22:20 on Sep 17, 2017 |

Social values are shaped by the practical concerns of running society, and the fundamental structure of the base, by which society reproduces itself. Assuming you've actually achieved socialism, the ruling ideology will naturally reflect that process of production.

In retrospect, her agreement that there should be a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United v. FEC makes it weirder that she brought out "name one time I changed my vote" as if that were the problem with the money she received, and not that she was helped by the tide of billionaire influence like the rest of the people she decreed in this article. There's an implicit "of course, I am the exception".

Yeah it's only the Republicans that are bad and bought, all Democrats are pure and noble and just take money because the other side does and Hamilton and whatever other stupid loving reason they give.
