That is a bit misleading. Kerala’s state government is dominated by CPI(M), an explicitly Marxist-Leninist party. CPI(M) = Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Btw there are two things going on, the shading is if it was some type of socialist state at any point and the star is to indicate if it is still that particular type of socialism (not that it is Marxist Leninist). The Soviet Union was Marxist Leninist, but doesn't get a star because it isn't one now (it doesn't exist) but the PRC/Laos/Vietnam do. Venezuela is "sort of Marxist Leninist" (meh) and gets a star because the PSUV is in power. Kerala should get a star, but maybe they couldn't fit it in. Eh, I would still not really call Assad a socialist btw even if Baathism once had socialist roots. I vote no star. ------ Maybe China didn't completely on internationalism when it has put a bunch of investment in Laos/Angola/Mozambique/Cuba/Zimbabwe which all are officially still run by Marxist-Leninist parties and is almost the only trade partner of the DPRK. Been looking through the Marxists.org publications to see. All I've seen so far is a letter from an MEK supporter in 1981 that the ISO published in their newspaper. Doesn't mention Iraq though. It's on page 10 if you want to check it out yourself. https://www.marxists.org/history/etol/newspape/sw-us/1977-81/SW_055_November_1981.pdf The site has a lot more trot publications than other tendencies, at least in that era.
