The Contortionist shared a teaser of their upcoming album. I'm loving stoked for it and I hope that it's like 90% melodic and beautiful with minimal heaviness. http://youtu.be/q4L6-o-VofY

So The Schoenberg Automaton are crowdfunding their new album. They're one of my favorite -core bands and I definitely would like to see them do well. If anyone in the thread is familiar with them and wants to contribute, that'd be great.

New Suicide Silence sucks New Chelsea Grin sucks (it's also an hour long... WHY?) Stoked for new The Contortionist but a little less after learning that they have a new singer. Didn't realize that happened. Wake up, thread!

Literally the only things coming out this year I am stoked on are new Acacia Strain and Obey the Brave tapes. I can't get into any of this newschool deathcore stuff. New ETID continues to own my face however.

I don't know if this thread or the other punk/hardcore thread is most appropriate but Derek Archambault of Defeater needs a new hip, plus you get exclusive stuff for pledging. Defeater is amazing and Derek can't tour without a new hip. http://www.bridge9.com/defeater http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/derekarchambault

Some of Intrinsic is, and a couple tracks off Exoplanet (Flourish, Oscillator, and part of the title track). The new teaser looks pretty neat but I have to say I still dig their Apparition EP most out of all their material. More deathcore should tap that dreamy vibe.

When did the new ETID album click for you guys? Given it a couple of plays by now but I'm not really hooked yet, it's a bit too all over the place for me which I sort of feared with Kurt Ballou producing. Had the same problem, although not as much, with Ex Lives - New Junk Aesthetic, The Big Dirty and Gutter Phenomenon all feel more like "coherent" records (dunno if that's the word you'd use, but you hopefully get my point).

I see what you're saying about it being a little less focused, but I was on board immediately. To me, The Big Dirty and New June both feel like "albums", while Ex-Lives and this latest both feel like "a bunch of awesome songs"

Wamsutta posted:How was TAS? Excellent, as usual. I always find it interesting trying to guess what they'll open with, usually Beast or Whoa Shut it Down. I think the last time I saw them play they opened with Mouth of the River which is a good choice. This time they opened with Above which I was happy about because they're embracing new songs. The set list at the NYC show was: Above Ramirez Mouth of the River Beast Dust and the Helix Dr Doom Whoa Shut it Down JFC Carbomb I couldn't find any live footage from the NYC show but someone recorded the entire set when they played Virginia. Apparently they played more songs there and I'm kinda bummed I didn't get to see 4x4 or The Impaler. Brain Death is a good song but not one that I like seeing live. I'm also sick to death of hearing Dr Doom. From what I understand it's a song they really like playing live but the only Continent songs that ever get any rotation are that and JFC and sometimes Skynet as an encore. There are lots of other good songs on that album that I've never heard them play. I'd love to hear Cthulhu again. This is the VA set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4IfUZoQldw

Set list looks good, but I am bummed at how little 3750 tracks they do nowadays. Sunpoison & Skin Cancer is such a wild live track. I like Dr Doom but I prefer 4x4. To me they are equivalent tracks from two different records, for some reason.

Maybe like two years ago in Long Island they played Passing the Pencil Test. Come to think of it, they played it last year on tour with Every Time I Die. I went to the Philly and NYC shows back to back days and they played it in Philly but not NYC. e: It's funny they throw that song into the mix on occasion because in the live DVD (I sadly didn't get to go to that) Vincent announced that it would be the last time they would play it live.
