Trying to persuade some friends to go to Temples with me. It's gonna be pretty expensive but so worth it. I don't think I'll stay for Sunday's lineup because I'll have seen all I wanted to see on Friday and Saturday and hotels are expensive.

I'll be at Temples, it's going to be a messy weekend (and I somehow have to survive for two weeks and the festival with just £60). What bands are you most looking forward to? I'm mega stoked for Bossk. Keep an eye out for me, I always like meeting new folk. I'm the gooniest goon lady most likely wearing a Sigh T-shirt. I'd offer you a place to crash but my friend might not be too cool with strangers. I know a few other friends talked about letting anyone stay at their hotel room and others had beds spare in a hostel. I'll keep an eye out for you.

Saw The Body in Glasgow tonight. Three support bands. The first were Voe, I only caught the end of their set but they seemed decent, bit of an early Isis or Yob vibe, although the vocals were a little weak. Second and third bands were Headless Cross and Buried Sleeper, not sure which was which. Second band the guitarist and drummer were killing it, really heavy and some nice riffs. Again kinda let down by the bassist/vocalist who only seemed to have one monotone yell in his repertoire, although luckily it was mostly instrumental. Third had bit of a hardcore sound to them, really energetic and lots of shouting but still pretty heavy. They were good, though less doomy. The Body were everything you'd expect: super loud, really tight, drummer absolutely thrashing his kit and exactly the vocal sound you hear on record. Pretty weird seeing that high pitched screaming coming from such a big guy. Only slight downside was that their set felt pretty short and they didn't play anything from I Will Die Here. Picked up the Thou collab vinyl and had a brief chat with the band, they seemed really nice.

Seriously digging on Of Solitude and Solemn right now. Atmospheric/post-metal doom. There's only an EP and a demo, but it's all good stuff and most songs are 10+ minutes. A new Mars Red Sky track is up. Their last album is so good. Can't wait for this. http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2014/04/24/mars-red-sky-stranded-in-arcadia-the-light-beyond/ Friends Are Evil posted:The new Lord Mantis leaked. It's sounding vicious so far. Yeah, that's shaping up to be a really good album. Their drummer plays in Indian as well, by the way. They dropped an excellent album earlier this year. If you are into really harsh sludge/doom with noise elements, check it out. I also saw them live recently, and while they likely can't beat Boris or Sunn o))) for sheer volume, they were still pretty drat loud. They also created an intensely oppressive air of aggression, especially Dylan O'Toole looked he was about to snap. Really nice guys off stage, though.

It's a nice progression from Pervertor. The song "Three Crosses" is surprisingly beautiful in a few spots. I love this band and I can't wait to buy this.

At Desertfest right now, saw every band At the electric ballroom yesterday and they all kicked arse. ASG weedeater and Kvelertak were probably the highlights. Managed to get my desertfest poster signed by Kvelertak too. Boris tonight, might be able to get them to sign stuff as well but I might be seeing a friend elsewhere in London so I may have to miss most of today's bands. Also had wino sit next to me in the pub.

What are Josh Homme's Desert Sessions recordings? Do they belong in this thread/is the music stoner rock? Just heard about them, somehow. Very curious about where to find them [legally, of course].

AFAIK it's just him, jamming in the desert with buddies. Some of them are like demos that end up on future QOTSA albums. I used to have one on CD, it had an early version of Make It With Chu on it, you can probably find the CDs on Amazon easily enough.

Bridge Of Sighs is a killer album by a great power trio.

Just got back from a Windhand show. Awesome, just wish they'd played for longer than an hour. And finally caught Talbot who were the warm-up act (there was another band, Kannabinġid, but I only managed to catch their last song) and they did not disappoint. Going to recommend them once again, their debut full-length is great piece of psychedelic doom and available for the low cost of "name your price" on Bandcamp.

While we're talking about local sludge acts, Holly Hunt's new EP's really good. Sludgy instrumental duo from Miami. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bfMU9ed7HA They recently opened for Godflesh and they've opened for bands like Earth before.
