Yeah, peanut butter is great.

Apparently not too popular in Europe, but gently caress 'em, they are wrong.

Unfortunately, it's deep fried baconnaise. I probably would try it. And then serve as a warning for all those who even think of such an crime against humanity.

They've been doing this for years. Deep-fried butter is already old hat.

Or in NYC pickles are basically flies and just come running for ice cream which sounds about right

Butter's not a condiment, it's a cheese so that's ok

What specifically makes butter not count as a condiment to you? It's primary use is as an additive to other foods to change their flavor.

I use garlic powder primarily as an additive to change foods flavor.

Is garlic powder a condiment?

Butter is a fat or oil, just like olive oil. I drizzle olive oil on bread, but i wouldn't call it a condiment.

Yes? Spices are a condiment. Like, even basic little dictionary definitions of condiment include spices.

Butter is an emulsion and is closer to mayonnaise than olive oil. Clarified butter does provide a loophole here.

I’m not sure it can’t be both though - i think if you add it by preference after the main preparation it’s a condiment. I wrote a detailed dissertation on this exact topic in sharpee in an Arby’s bathroom stall as a matter of fact.

The dictionary is wrong :colbert:

Also, garlic powder was a bad example, but you know what I mean. Just because you use it in a dish to change the flavor doesn't make it a condiment.

I'd be interested in perusing this treatise. Is it the Arby's restroom with the nice duct-taped glory hole, or the one that looks like it was hastily punched out?

Does butter really count as an emulsion and not just, like, a mixture or suspension? I thought an emulsion was a mixture of things that don't normally mix - butter is kinda the opposite in that it undergoes a chemical change when it melts that means it won't recombine the same.
