It's as if a unimaginative writer, close to being late for his deadline, heard of a unique, interesting idea for a film from another writer and rushed to create it before the original writer could. While writing the film, the writer went drinking to celebrate and forgot most of the plot besides the basic idea. The result is The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, a repetitive, tiring, long-winded film yielding a lack of humour, provoking thought, or visual impact. I liked some of the cast and thought the guitar playing was a nice, creative touch, though. 2/5
