Another wonderful work from Wes Anderson, who is 4 for 4 in my book. The main charge being levelled against this film is that it's style over substance, but I think what people are missing is that this is more of a pure comedy than Rushmore or Tenenbaums. It doesn't have the same poignancy but it makes up for that with laughs. Although Anderson's humor is very dry, almost British in a sense, so perhaps it doesn't amuse everyone. I, however, was very amused and, as always, quite smitten with his sense of style and art direction. I don't find it overly quirky at all. Perhaps it's not as meaningful as Anderson's last two films, but for me it was one of the most enjoyable of 2004. Rating: 4.5
