I went to see some indoor ice racing a few weeks ago in Springfield. It was some XiiR series, which I'd never heard of, that was quads and speedway bikes. Pictures aren't that great because of where I was sitting.

The track was just the ice rink in Springfield (Mass. Mutual Center?) with some mats and hay bales. It wasn't long enough for them to get speed up in my opinion.

I'm not a big fan of quads, but they were entertaining.

Especially when two got stuck together.

Of course what I came to see was the bikes, since I had never seen speedway in person.

And then there was some half time show sponsored by some radio station with these guys trying to ride tricycles across the ice.

All together, it was kind of fun, but it could have been done much better. A few times it seemed like the guys in first would hold back or even let the other guys pass them.

drat it, why are there no supermoto races in the northeast? Even if I don't have the balls to ride that, I'd love to at least watch it in person.

Got a bar mount for my GoPro camera and recorded my ride home from work. Picture isn't that great since it was starting to get dark, but it's not too bad for a $170 camera. I'm kind of proud that I can hear my pegs scraping in a few parts.

You can also see that my dad's XB12 can pull away from my Blast very easily.

How do you have it mounted that the audio is not just wind noise like I hear on most motorcycles?

The waterproof case it comes with does a great job at blocking the windnoise. At the same time it's terrible if you want to film anything quieter than an engine.

Today was the absolute worst time I've had riding motorcycles ever. First, I was going to go dirt biking with a friend, but the trails were closed since they looked like this (normally there's a small stream there):

We decided to go ride on the street, and it started raining when we were about 50 miles from home:

And then I did this.
Luckily only a few scratches and a broken turn signal lens.

I went to a pro flat track race in Hagerstown, MD last weekend. I shot this pretty low quality video (they wouldn't let us stand on the fence), and the only reason I'm posting it is because it's the only time I've seen someone make the brake rotor on a Harley glow red:

I finally got out in the woods with one of the guys I work with. I found out pretty quick how out of shape I am.

I would've gotten some helmet cam footage on the actual trails, but it turned into a bigger safety hazard than anything. I got a branch stuck in there at one point, and the branch decided to stay attached to the tree it was on. I'm still surprised at how well my bike runs for being 25 years old.

And if anyone has never been to a flat-track race, go to one. They're an absolute riot, especially if you're sitting right by turn one where you can watch them kick the bikes sideways. I saw a guy fly completely over the guardrail, 20ft down, while slamming into a lightpost. They're insane.

I'll second this. One of the best things I've seen at one was Kenny Coolbeth using his rear brake enough to make it glow while never letting off the throttle.

And while the national races are amazing, a lot of the local amateur races have crazy old guys with random vintage bikes.

Those Vance and Hines aren't straight pipes, and they have an option to put quieter baffles in. And with proper tuning, they're some of the better pipes out on the market for Harleys.

Ironically the Blast is the only Buell still being made by Harley, specifically to be used in the MSF courses. I rode one for two years and had a lot of fun with it, but I have no problem saying that a Ninja 250 is the best of the starter bikes. The Blast gets boring once you know what a bigger bike is like.
